  1. I'd be worried if I bought this car, could be a lemon thats been in a dealers most of its life hence the mileage. I once bought a 10 year old motorbike in mint condition with 7500k on it, soon found out why is it cut out and refused to start when the engine got to running temperature. I've always much preferred to go for higher mileage cars since for this reason...
  2. This shows how bad my 1.9PD is currently with its faults, I'm getting 380 miles to a full tank driven normally...
  3. Keep your bonnet lifted for a few minutes, that resets it.
  4. No he says I need a new EGR now thats not worked, although a lot of searches say other things can be wrong but it'll say insufficient flow on the fault code?
  5. The mechanic that cleaned the EGR said it was full of of oily carbon deposits. So would the vacuum pipes require replacing if they're gunged up too? Really beginning to hate this car though, its currently costing a fortune and its only done 114k!
  6. Hi All, Currently my 2005 Octavia 1.9TDi (BKC) has come up with the CEL Light on and saying Emissions Workshop! on the Maxidot. I had it scanned by a local vag specialist and they've said the fault thats coming up is EGR insufficient flow. So I've had the EGR cleaned out and tested, the light reset but its come back on again. Has anyone ever had this before? As I did a search and it doesn't seem a hugely common problem? If so how did you rectify it and what exactly was wrong? Thanks in advance, Craig
  7. Hi All, I've noticed recently my Octavia 1.9TDi PD on an 2005 Plates fuel consumption has dropped majorly. It used to get around 55-60mpg but now I am lucky if I get 40-45mpg. Its done 113k now, and was last serviced in December at 105k. Its not lost any power as far as I can tell and no overly black smoke is coming from the exhaust other than on start up and when I boot it. Any ideas what it could possibly be? Cheers Craig
  8. Hi All, I currently have a 2005 Octavia Ambiente, and I'd like to have an MP3 connection for it. I don't want to go for an aftermarket stereo as I think I'd loose functionality of the MFSW that the original owner specified. It currently has a CD Autochanger, is there any options for me to use the interface from this? As far as I am aware the unit in the car is a Stream unit, its not even the Stream MP3 as it won't play MP3 cds. Craig
  9. So just to confirm this doesn't affect the 140Bhp PD in the Octy then? Craig
  10. Ummm, Weyland you selected the Mk1 Octavia when using Glass's guide, mines a Mk2. And comes out at £2880 in excellent condition for me. Theres no way in the world I'd let my car go for that though, as I'm not stupid. lol
  11. Hi All, Just want some opinions on things. Yesterday I went to local dealer to me where they had a 2009 vRS TDI 170 in Silver up for £11995 with 35k on it, firstly does this sound alot? Secondly I have a 2005 Ambiente Estate 1.9PD with 100k on it and they offered me £2300 as a PX Value, to me that sounds really really low? Considering I paid £5000 for it in January (I did look about at the time and there was nothing cheaper of the same age for an estate). The garage yesterday said I was ripped off paying that much? They quickly came up to £3300 for PX though. Also whats the fuel consumption like on the vRS, and is there anything I need to look out for or is anything likely to go wrong like the ESP/ABS system on something this new? As much as I liked the vRS, is it really worth loosing £2000 for 6 months of motoring? Craig
  12. If it was only an advisory ignore it till it comes around next time. Only if it fails do something about it. But in the mean time if you worrying keep your eye on it by turning the steering wheel full lock both ways and check for splits or grease coming out at any point of the CV boot. I had an advisory on my old car, a 2001 Astra and the MOT tester gave me an advisory on the brake pipes were corroded but not to the point where they would fail. So I took it to my independant mechanic and he put it on his ramps and found some sealer applied to the pipes was flaking off no corrosion what-so-ever! Craig
  13. Then I guess I won't be buying a new Octy then. :/ As it really is a massive bugbear of mine when driving long distances.
  14. Hi all, I currently own a 2005 Ambiente, and I am thinking of getting a newer car now my current car is nearing 100k. I'm thinking of sticking with an Octavia as it does everything I want and need, my only gripe though other than road noise is the seats. The lack of lumbar adjustment the main sticking point, as on long journeys they give me a bad back. So does anyone know if Skoda improved the seats in the FL Octy? Also in addition has road noise been subdued a little too? Cheers Craig
  15. I have the Skoda one too, well worth it and keeps the boot floor dry even with a sopping wet dog in it.
