  1. Hi Moordown, How long was it until the issue happened again? I got my car back on the 15th Feb and they tell me the problem is now sorted. Mine was a software update and the dealer has had the same issue before in other Skoda models. It has been alright so far but I'm wondering how long it will last. To update on my original post: after the SOS issue, I had the engine warning light come on a few days later - emissions filter and clutch sensor issues. It's all been fixed but I was not pleased having had the car for less than a week. What was also annoying was talking to the manager of the local dealership who said, "It is under warranty though..." It really annoyed me. That's not the point. Whether it is under warranty or not, after spending a lot of money on a car (and probably hitting a bonus or two of a sales person) I don't expect to have any issues with the car - it's not even two years old yet! I wish they would just leave the talk to the service mechanics who tell it as it is. As I mentioned, it's all be fixed and seems to be working alright. Complained to the original dealership I bought it from and got some compensation. It takes the Mick really. I genuinely like the car and just hope I can get through a few more years before I start to fork out more substantial money on it.
  2. Cheers 1982. I'm feeling a little better about it now. Called up the dealership today and spoke to the service team who said this is a common issue when the software update has not fully completed. It's like you both said, the OCU might have issues with it or the last infotainment software didn't update properly. It causes issues with the SOS emergency call, Bluetooth and infotainment systems. They told me the cause is linked to the car system struggling to switch between 4G and 5G signals. If you pass an area with slightly less 5G coverage, the car gets stuck between switching to 4G and it stops working. This can cause other issues with Bluetooth connectivity with phones. I tried getting around it by hardwiring the phone in today but then had an issue getting car play to work. Unplugged it, turn off/on again and it connected via Bluetooth and it worked so was able to plug the phone in to charge and all was well. Got it booked in for two weeks time and it is all under warranty so it is all covered. They will redo the software update and failing that, I'll need a new OCU which they can order in form the factory. In the meantime, I'll just have to press the emergency call button then cancel it if it happens though I don't really want to do this often. I'm not convinced with Skoda Connect 1982. Do you find it useful? I've done a bit of reading on it and I doesn't offer much that I need. I listen mainly to podcasts and books when driving so not a massive fan of the radio. I have spoken to different dealerships over the last six months whilst deciding on cars and they have all said the apple/android car links work much better. Plus, it is free.
  3. Yeah - I stopped searching after a while as I'm concerned I have just spent a lot of money on a car that may be faulty... I'm hoping someone on here will be able to say, "Easy fixes. They just need to do X and Y..." then I might sleep better tonight! I still have the option to return the car within 14 days so I have 9 days left to decide.
  4. Evening everyone, I’m hoping someone might be able to give me some advice on the seriousness of two issues. First, I want to just say I really like the Scala. Bought one 4 days ago after spending months researching different makes and models of car. The car is ideal for what I need and I bought an approved used from a Skoda dealership. It’s a 21 reg, 1L, SE L with under 20,000 miles on the clock. When I drove in the dark the other day for the first time, I had the SOS error emergency call appear with contact workshop. I’ve read on here that it might be a SIM fault. If anyone has had this, is it an easy fix with the dealership? It’s under warranty so I don’t have to worry about cost but wanted to know if it can be easily fixed. The second issue is about Apple Car Play freezing. This has happened twice in 4 days. The navigation goes and I have to turn the car on and off. On the second time, it was linked to the SOS issue above. Turning the car on and off did not fix it - I saw a video online about pressing the emergency call then cancelling the call which seemed to get rid of the SOS fault and the Apple car play worked again. However, I don’t want to do this every time it happens. I’ve been told that all the checks were made before handover and that the sales person at the dealership does not know why I’ve experienced problems. Again, has anyone encountered this and knows if it is fixable or have I got a dud model? I’m calling the dealership tomorrow to discuss the faults and book it in but wondered if I should look at returning it within the 14 days and getting a refund. How serious are these faults? Should I be worried?
