  1. Hi does anyone know if there might be any issues using a 2012 roomster tdi engine to replace the blown one in a fabia tdi 2013 - both greenline spec. I’m thinking wiring looms might be the issue but what else. Certainly they seem the same car from the front . . . . . ? Thanks?
  2. Finally hopefully fixed as of today, and thanks to all contributors, vacuum sensor as well as egr valve replaced plus factory original oil sensor - patterns not recommended.
  3. I’m pleased you think they’re ok, they seem totally sound to me and are genuinely confused by the issue. My problem is I’m up in Banff, it’s my granddaughter’s car she’s based in Stanley. She’s naturally concerned that when she drives up to us this weekend there could be an issue. It’s booked back in to Meigle next Thursday, hopefully I can get these suggestions to Ian and Stephen and they can bear them in mind - just hoping nothing goes wrong in the meantime! Thanks for all the help, much appreciated.
  4. You’re worrying me a bit now - the way you say you know the garage . . . . . . ? It’s the red can and beeps, not the yellow. Dropped by the garage this afternoon, Ian emphasised it was serviced by them before we bought it - I guess as part of their sales prep, we didn’t pay for it (other than through the purchase price) so no record of oil types / filters - but then there wouldn’t normally be on an invoice, just reference to oil and filters etc. I’m gathering from you all that the type of oil is critical - but cannot understand why the problem doesn’t arise until 25 minutes into a journey, unless the viscosity of the oil used is so wrong that the oil pressure drops.
  5. Yes it’s in Perth, not sure where it was originally serviced, bought from a garage in Meigle, been there 20 years and have a good reputation for multi- make servicing and sales. They are also standing by us and trying to sort the problems out but are struggling a bit - current thinking is a wiring issue possibly earthing giving skewed data to the ecu. It’s back in agin next week to be looked at by their specialist sparky. Can’t find out if it’s had the voluntary recall as the Skoda garage hasn’t come back to me after two enquiries - possibly, and understandably, as they may not have been servicing it?
  6. Supposedly recently serviced 59,000 1.2tdi. After 30 mins or so driving twice recently the red oil light has flashed up briefly with warning beeper - and then just as quickly disappeared, to not return in normal commuting. Oil level normal, relatively recent - within 500 miles - service and oil change. It only seems to happen after say 10-15 minutes of top gear 60mph work. Is this likely to be a partially blocked oil filter? Or oil pressure sensor? Thanks!
  7. Thanks George any suggestions gratefully received. Moved up here from Heathrow 3 years ago, lovely place.
  8. Hi all, my granddaughter’s just bought a 57,000 mile 1.2tdi Fabia 2 after writing her Fabia 1 off skidding on black ice into a jackknifed tractor and trailer. The garage replaced the clutch and cam belt as part of the deal and now the egv has been replaced after no other cause seemed likely for the continuing presence of the management light. The garage have been very supportive. This car had sat unused for 4 months prior to purchase. After the egv was replaced the light was off for a day, and a few starts and stops, but now back on again for the last few days, permanently. Car is running fine, not in limp mode. Prior to purchase passed mot with no advisories. Past mot’s indicate a car properly serviced. Garage are a little perplexed, anything anyone out there can suggest to help? Many thanks, Charlie.
