2012 Petrol VRS strange sound at 1050~ RPM
Hey folks, I am either deaf as a potato for the last 10 months and now I'm not, or never noticed before or I have a problem or I dont have a problem... Theres a whiring sound that is to the speed of the engine but only at about 1050RPM. I've tried this in 2nd and 3rd gear and get the same noise only at that RPM, I couldnt test at higher gears due to road noise. It's like a wow wow wow wow wow wow noise, goes away when idling and goes away above 1050rpm. It's so quite that its only really heard when there's something by the passenger side for the sound to bounce back from if sat inside the car or if you stand at the passenger side and listen in through the wheel.. I stuck a box on the accelerator peddle to keep the RPM where I wanted so I could hear it from the outside, and its coming from behind, like, into the engine bay (or is at least louder) behind the passenger front wheel, probably due to the location of the engine and path for the sound to emit and cant be heard from the front of the car with the bonnet open. Am I going mad and this sound has always been there and this is normal or is this likely an issue? Sorry for the vagueness its the best I can describe it, other than when you rev the car and you get that engine noise as it settles down except in those circumstances it isnt wow wow wow wow wow Appreciate any help, thank you! 🙂 Dan

Fabia MK2 FL 63 plate - Brake disk size?
Ah ok, so he will need to physically measure them then. It's a 1.2 12v SE variant.

Fabia MK2 FL 63 plate - Brake disk size?
Hey folks, My brother cant figure out what size disks he needs to buy for his MK2 FL model from 2013. The current ones are the stock original ones and every where I look there are 2-3 different diameters. Does anyone know the stock size? Thanks in advance.

Swap DSG manual up/down
Is there any practical way to change the DSG to be pull to go up the gears and push to go down the gears in manual mode? Feels way more intuitive to pull the lever when accelerating.

Knocking when turning at low speed
I'm having it checked out Saturday, and have done a drive with a friend in the passenger seat. They say that the noise is actually coming from the drivers side in the steering column. I took the car for another drive and drove it on a half on half off path and when the car is not flat and tilts, the same noise is heard, so it isnt from the act of turning the wheel but seems to be effected by gravity/angle of the car

Knocking when turning at low speed
Hey everyone, Over the last few weeks I've noticed that there is a knock coming from what sounds like centre/centre left of the front of the car when turning at 5-20mph. If I turn left and then go left/right/left/right I hear the knock but the sound goes once I'm going quicker. I cant tell if this is something loose that is swinging or a rock thats lodged somewhere or maybe coming from deeper in the engine bay and more worrying :-(. It's not always there and the noise is pretty quiet. The car drives totally straight down the motorway, nothing else noticeable. I thought this might be a loose cover in the engine bay, but its so quiet I cant be sure. Its more of a click than a knock if that makes any reasonable sense. It doesnt matter if I do the left/right/left/right when initially going straight or if I'm already turning left, and I can sort of hear it if I'm going right then do left/right/left/right Any ideas? Cheers.

145Mph for 20 seconds, have I ruined my engine?
Hey folks, Needless to say, somewhere in the world a 2012 MK2 FL with 50k miles on the clock half way towards a service interval did 145Mph for about 20 seconds twice. Oil temp got to 119c. The owner would like to know if they've likely screwed their engine. Seems to sound the same as it did before the whoosh as they decided to give it the "beans" Not looking for my dad to reply and tell me or said friend off, just looking for advice.
