Hello all. My first car was an Austin 1100 bought secondhand back in the early 70s and I have had a number of British Leyland vehicles in the decade that followed. I moved on to Volvos, a manual 240 followed by an automatic 245 bought from my father. The next marque I had a preference for in the 90s was Citroen and had a BX followed by a couple of ZXs. That was followed by some Fords including an early Focus C-Max, and a B-Max. That was followed by a Citroen Grand Picasso and another Ford C-Max - all these vehicles after the Volvos were diesel powered with manual gearboxes.
However I am no stranger to Skoda as my first one was a diesel Octavia hatch followed by a diesel Fabia Estate back in the noughties. Both cars did all that was required of them and I was always very happy to have them. In Oct 2020 I took delivery of a Kamiq 1.0 TSI SE manual and enjoyed having what proved to be a comfortable and quite nippy small SUV. My one concern was how small the boot was but since we were restricted in how much travel we could do during the pandemic I made the best of it. Last October I got a phone call from the dealer who had sold us the Kamiq asking if I wanted to consider what to do about possibly changing the vehicle as I was 2 years into the finance agreement. At the beginning of November therefore I ordered a Karoq SE Drive 1.5 TSI DSG which I took delivery of on 1st Feb.
After 10 days of ownership I am delighted with the choice I made; OK it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles but I am content with that as they are just more potential causes of problems and I added the electric tailgate as the one indulgence (we had one on the Kamiq and the wife loves it!)
I look forward to reading some interesting posts on the site, although hopefully won’t have to ask advice for any niggly or persistent problems!
