Hi all,
I have 1.2 HTP 12V Fabia from 2005 with 139500 km on it, owned it from 122000 km. The car is running great, however I noticed some amount of oil buildup near the oil filter area and some oil is missing from the engine.
I had an oil change done at 127300 km and at 136500. Around 4000 km between the two oil changes were done on highway with 2 people and some luggage, and the car used little to no oil between the changes.
Last week I did 370 km on highway with 4 people and full trunk. I checked the oil level before the trip and it was in the upper third of the dotted area of the dipstick. After the trip, the oil went down to lower third of the dotted part on the dipstick so I topped it up with a bit under 0.5l to get it back up. I pulled the plastic engine cover off and found an oil buildup by the oil filter area that you can see on the pictures.
I tried to find some old phots of the engine and the tiny amount of oil around the oil filler cap area has already been there at 122000 km over 2 years ago when I got the car, as well as the wet corner of the oil pan? that you can see a bit on the last photo. The car doesn't smoke, the coolant is not disappearing and has normal pink colour, there is also no milk in the oil filler hole or on the dipstick.
So my question is, is this something to be worried about or is it normal that the engine used this amount of oil when it was tortured with fully loaded car doing 120 km/h for 4 hours and it "sweated" a bit in some areas?
Is there something I should check and possibly replace? I am planning a road trip in 2 people and light luggage in the summer where we will cover around 3500 km in few days again mostly on highways and I wouldn't want to get stranded abroad.
Thanks.
