  1. Hello I have an Octavia 2 (2006) with one fully working remote key fob and one which starts the car but does not operate the central locking. I see various sets of instructions on the web about how to reprogram the non-working fob eg. https://www.programyourkeys.com/Program_Car_Keys_-_Skoda.html Assuming these instructions are correct - and hopefully someone here can confirm?...I have a question about the procedure. Is it necessary to wipe both remotes (including the working one) and re-program them again? Can just one remote be re-programmed without affecting the operation of the other? The instructions at the URL above suggest that each remote has its own program: "...When performing programming on additional remotes the procedure is the same, except you press the unlock button 2, 3 or 4 times for the different remote." ...so how do you know which of the 4 slots the currently working remote occupies? Or have I completely misunderstood the whole thing?! Hopefully there will be many people on here who have gone through this.
  2. Hello I'm new to this forum but I hope someone might advise. I have a Skoda Octavia II Elegance Hatch/Estate model 1.9 TDi with all the extras like leather seats etc. It's done 144,000 miles. Its been the best car to drive I've ever had but I have recently been advised that it needs a DMF replacement (along with clutch I guess) at a cost of over £1000 I'm torn as to whether this is more than I should spend on this vehicle - Part of the issue is not really knowing what other big bills are common on these cars of this age - this is the advice I'm looking for. Obviously it's my decision but some guidance as to whether others have faced the same choice would be helpful. The vehicle does less than 10K per year nowadays, is regularly serviced and I'm loath to replace it - but I can't afford £1000 bills every year! As far as I know there is nothing else wrong with it at the moment... Many thanks in advance for any views...
