  1. So ive been driving a 1.9pd mk2 octavia hatchback 105bhp for the last three years. I have the opportunity to buy a mk3 and ideally id like an estate. Has to be petrol. The car will mainly be doing urban driving and longer runs in school holidays and it will also be doing a trip to Euro Disney this September in it. Ill probably do 5000-6000 miles a year. Ive found a 2018 estate 1.0tsi with 85000miles and just been serviced and also has new front discs and pads for £4500 i doubt its had the belt done so would be looking at getting that done sooner rather than later. The other car is a 2018 1.5tsi estate with 144,000miles belt was changed in 2024 ad says full/good service history one owner from new. My head says the lower mileage one would be better but the 1.0tsi maybe underpowered for a family of four loaded up in school holidays. Any feedback on this matter would be appreciated. Thanks
  2. Hi all, I bought a 2009 Skoda Octavia 1.9tdi Elegance this morning. The car has done 131,000m, and runs well. My old man had a look at it yesterday and thought the engine was tapping. So when we visited it today we where focused on that. I belive its OK and it seemed to settle down a bit once it got up to temperature. No knocks or smoke when i out my foot down and its stops well. However im kicking my self now as i didnt check the body over fully. When i got home i noticed its had a respray on the rear passenger side sill and the bottom quater of the passenger side door. Also the sill has a a few rust spots coming through. Other than that its a good car loveing the boot size as well. Thanks Andy
