  2. yeah its a mk1 so its a petrol, definately not over filled. think ill try changing to a 5/30 and see how it goes?? cheap and simple, cheers buddy.
  3. yeah only noticed since the last oil change (done by me) yeah definitely fully synth was used...if the label is correct as the remainder is in the boot still. Car has done 89,000 miles and was owned by a mechanic friend of mine before me. Im in the trade (bodywork) but thought id ask you knowledgeable lot first before i get back to work on Tuesday. thanks for the reply
  4. Hi mate sorry about that, the mobile app seems to have cut off half my question !!! As i said its an 05 vrs and after a recent oil change it is smoking quite a bit, mainly when accelerating or whilst revving. The oil i was told to use is a fully synthetic 0/ 40. i'm now wondering if this is too thin and maybe getting past some seals etc as most people seem to be using a 5/40 or even a 10/40 any thoughts guys many thanks, Jim.
  5. Hi guys and girls, just a quick question. My 05 plate octavia vrs is burning oil. It's quite smokey at times.
  6. Thanks guys, any ideas how to test a relay?? Sorry if it's a dumb question
  7. Hi guys has anyone had any experience of the climate control being totally blank and unresponsive in a mk1 octavia vrs? It doesn't even light up with the headlights I have checked the fuses and all seem fine?? Just wondering if I'm missing something? I have also tried search but to no avail Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Jim.
  8. Hi guys and girls, been on this forum for years but been absent for a long time due to personal circumstances and lack of a skoda lol. But I pick up another octavia vrs next week, so I'll be back reading and posting again
  9. oh and I know this is a bit naughty, (but i was a freedom member for 3 years) I have some interesting bits for sale now
  10. Will do matey, and no the wheels are still silver on the mitsi as I am waiting to get hold of some evo 7/8 wheels for it. But then who knows, the spray gun may come out again then !!
  11. Hi all, don't really know why I am posting this really. Just to join in again I s'pose. I have sold my yellow octy vrs ! Bless her. :( But I have replaced her with a Mitsubishi Legnum vr4 twin turbo type s estate. This forum has helped me out lots over the last 7 years so I will still keep a check on what you lot are up to from time to time. Luckily club VR4 seems just as friendly and full of technical info and how to's etc. Thanks again for the last 7 years, briskoda is a great site and a credit to the people who contribute. Cheers, Jim.
  12. You will also need to etch prime the panel too if it's bare metal.
