ECU removal
So I went to the car - I wish I had tried to start it before I did anything but I didn't. So tried to get the car out of Park as per the instructions in the owners book but I couldn't find this yellow plastic part?? all I could see was a light blue button at the top of the gearbox housing which I managed to push down (went forward) but couldn't get it out of park but I did feel the shifter move slightly. So I then though perhaps the ignition should be on as well? So turned the ignition on didn't get the fault EPS up as I was on Friday when switching on the ignition. So I tried and it started on the button no lights or faults reported on the dash drove home fine no issues. I wander if it could be an issue with the shifter, so when I stopped and put it in park it didn't hit park properly and still thought it was in gear?? If anyone has any thoughts on this. Scanned it with VCDS when I got back loads of codes on first scan cleared them and just I the one fault which I have had since owning the car i have uploaded if you want to take a look. The only other thing i can think of is I fitted a dashcam hard wired into the fuse box using the dual fuse holders to plug in it has been in the car for over 6 weeks now but could that be causing an issue I made sure i stayed away from crucial fuses can't remember what I used now. It was an asdome M300s and the JYX04 hardwire kit??

Yeah found that in the owners manual - if I can get it into neutral I'll be able to get it recovered home which will make it a bit easier for me to do some research and try out some of your suggestions. Back to the battery he also had a battery pack on the battery so would this have corrected a low voltage if that what was causing the issue. Do I leave it as it is and just get an auto electrician to check and tell me what the issue is, just trying to save time and money. The ECU seemed a simple fix and the the option that made the most sense to me, is it worth risking the cost of a battery never had any issues with it or having troubles starting etc??

So it wasn't a light on the dash it came up in the center info panel Fault EPS I'll take a picture on Sunday So can these ECU's be repaired?? Also if it's not the ECU what could have gone to cause all the error codes and the not to start or even turn over? Like I said I have had the car 15 months and never had a light or fault flick up on the dash except the tyre pressure light??

@Crasher the RAC bloke said most of his calls are down to faulty ECU's said its a common issue for them to packup all the time???

In the running though is a company call ECU Testing or AC Tronics

Hi, I'm not near the car, I had to leave it outside work, it is stuvk in park and we have off street parking so couldn't garauntee a spot for them to drop car. I'll look when I go back up on Sunday. I was going to send it off to be repaired - the dash said Fault: EPS it wasn't epc but yeah all dash lights were on but couldn't start it so not sure what would have gone out. This is the general text from the RAC report. So to remove it is just clip out?? Thanks Tony Comment car has many codes in system and found car has control unit fault also stuck in park customer going to research fault may call for recovery Battery test result Battery Test Battery Manufacturer: VARTA Rating of battery tested: 640EN Chemistry of battery tested: FLOODED Rated Ah of battery tested: 70 Smart charge: No Battery Test Results Time: 11/04/2024 16∶36 Temperature: 20.6°C Measured voltage: 11.99Volts Measured rating: 314EN Reserve capacity: Good Reserve State of health: 60% State of charge: 29% Test Result: Serviceable Recharge System Test Jump pack used: No Starter Avg voltage: 0Volts Starter Avg current: 0Amps Starter result decision: No Start Alternator test decision: Test not Performed First drain test voltage:11.99Volts First drain test current: 0Amps Diagnostic codes RAC DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM System Type: ENGINE SYSTEM TEST/VALUES Name: CAVE - TFSI DTC: U101700,ABS control unit; read fault memory DTC: U010100,No communication with automatic gearbox DTC: P003300,Turbo/Super Charger Bypass Valve Control Circuit / Open System Type: BRAKES Name: ABS/ESP - BOSCH 8.0 ABS/ESP - BOSCH 8.2 DTC: 01315,Gearbox control unit System Type: BRAKES Name: ABS/ESP - BOSCH 8.0 DTC: 01315,Gearbox control unit System Type: BRAKES Name: ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM - BOSCH 8.0 DTC: 01315,Gearbox control unit System Type: CENTRAL ELECTRONIC UNIT Name: GATEWAY - DIAGNOSTIC FOR DATA-BUS DTC: 01315,Gearbox control unit System Type: INSTRUMENT PANEL Name: INSTRUMENT – DIAGNOSE DTC: U111100,Function limitation due to missing message.

ECU removal
Hi All, What tools would I need to remove the ECU - I have a 2010 fabia vrs. The car broke down so its about 30 miles from me so I need to take some tools to remove it, cant find anything about removal on internet. I have enclosed the RAC report after ringing round etc ... they all seem to say it is ECU failure. Drove to work fine no issues haven't had any issue since getting the car not lights or faults popping up nothing. got in it and it wouldn't turnover fault on dash saying ESP that was it. Thanks, Tony. report.docx

Does anyone know what this is?
I found this little item in the seat storage in my Fabia, I've only had car for a month or so. It has a the lighter adapter for power and a female jack socket I also found a cable sticking out of the center console which plugs into this part I have no idea what it is or does. When connected nothing happens or appears on dash or radio. Enclose some pics
