  1. Hi, my first non introductory questions: I am about to buy a 2011/2012 Fabia TSI 1.2 that I have not actually seen yet. This is due to I could only find one skoda Fabia that I could afford and it was from a dealership. I am buying from a NISSAN dealership here in WA. The reason I bought it sight unseen is that it was in the used section of the dealership and all the other cars were 20k plus cars and do not think it would be wise of them to put a bad car amongst them. This car yard has a very good reputation, When I rang them they told me they had found a small oil leak in the turbo and it was in the workshop to have a seal replaced and it was not a workshop priority so I could be waiting for a while to see the car and encouraged me to look elswhere for a vihicle. I considered this, and after a few days and after comming up with no vehicle that I wanted within my price range I called them once more and said I was prepared to wait for the vehicle to be repaired. They eventually got back and said OK to the deal providing I could wait a while as they were sent a wrong seal and were waiting upon a replacement. So I am waiting but have a few questions. So sorry about being long winded........ Q1, Is there a way that I can found out about the build date, as I am told that VW had some issues with the cam chain train and worked on on it untill they came up with a more reliable version in late 2011. My question is how do I check which version of the valve chain train is on my car? Q2. Ussuming the Turbo just needs a new oil seal, are these 1.2L TSI turbos reliable? If this deal was through a very reputable dealer and not Dodgy brothers. The deal looks OK to me but thought I would run it by you guys. The car is at 134K on the dial and selling for 8K Australian dollars Sorry agian for being long winded but I am about to retire without a lot of funds and have just had a nasty experince with a SAAB money pit Thanks and looking forward to your thoughts
  2. Thank you Urban Panzer, I had to do a lot of digging as I wrongly assumed the model specifications in the UK were the same as in Australia. The cat I am keen on is the Autralian 2012 Skoda Fabia 5JF 77TSI and all the infomation I can muster is that it is an 8 speaker sound system. So my assumption was that it was a 2 speaker sound system. Any help or opinions on that would be appreciated:)
  3. I am about to buy a used skoda and have not seen it as yet in person. I want to check what specifications and trim level online and free using my VIN? Is there a site fpr that?
  4. Hi, I am looking at buying a Scoda Fabia 2011 and am thinking I would like to do a budget stereo upgrade on the stereo system. Since I do not have access to the vehicle yet I have no idea of the standard stereo. I am imagining it has 4 paper full range speakers in all 4 doors. Based on that premis I am thinking of getting a flat active Sub under the seat and putting an in-line amp in the upper or lower glove box. For the speakers I am thinking just replacing the stock speakers in the front with quality full range speakers with tweeters I can rotate a bit towards my ears and put some other full range speakers in the rear. Does that sound like a plan? I would love to hear opinions of others and hear there experience with upgrading a fabia sound system upgrade. Thanks in advance. I know this subject may have been addressed before but I am unfamiliar with this site so please forgive me if that is the case:)
  5. Thanks varoom, I am one of the gratefull ones..........I survived the illness that many don't unfotunately. I came here (Perth) as a child hailing from Horsforth:) I am looking to learning more about the stereo upgrades advice from those who have dabbled with the Scoda fabio Mk 2 although it is not called Mk 2 over hear so thanks for the heads up on that mate👌
  6. Hi all this is my first post here and I am exited to become a member of this forum:) I hail from perth western Australia and have attached a post card. My Saab 93 just died as it became a money pit, so I did some research on a car I could afford and importantly a reliable car and am looking at a 2011 Skoda Fabia 5JF 77TSI 5 Speed Manual Hatchback with 138,000 kms on the clock. Cars seem to last very well here due to the climate and no salt on the roads and very good road infrastructure. I have recovered from a serious illness a couple of years ago hence the reason for looking for a good budget car as my finances are in a recovery phase plus I am also looking to start my own bussiness so a reliable car is needed. One of the first quesions I will ask is how to upgrade the sound system of the aforementioned model on a budget. I would be very greatfull if somebody could link me with where I should post this type of question. Thanks for reading and I am looking forward to hearing from other members on this forum.
