  1. Hi All, Thanks guys for the heads up of brand to go with, and the exact model even. Bit of a faff to get the old ones off, the new ones went on ok though and are so much better! Best wishes Martin
  2. Thanks for the advice guys! I ordered those 864S and they have arrived. I will try and put them on now :-)
  3. Hi all, Loving the Scala. …apart from the OEM wipers - horrible, noisy and does not wipe well Finally took off to try and clean up - totally clogged with dirt and moss. Wiped off what could - no joy, still bad Please can you advise on specific wipers I can buy? I tried a few times over the last year, and got lost in the choices available on amazon. Amazon decriptions are iffy at best about compatibility, Hope you can advise Best wishes Martin
  4. Nah, car is fine 😀 We literally do short trips 1 or 2 times a week, and maybe a 60 miles round trip one a month We are treating it same as the old 20 yr old Golf - no issues with that car either for 20 years!
  5. Hi Ooto, Apologies for delay in reply! 😀 I didn't see any notifications for reply to this thread. Yup, quite possible 'someone co-cked up at the PDI resetting' - it was a bit of a rubbish 'pick up the car' experience. It was ex demo, and I we picked it up weekend after. Really didn't look like they did much to it when I picked it up. Service booked for July, and I asked specifically to get the car set to 'variable' servicing. Cheers Martin
  6. Thanks for both sides of view on this guys. Hell, I will stick with plan "a" and get it serviced in the summer - may even get up to 2,500 miles by then! 🤣 Really love the car, it is perfect for what we do, but it mostly sits on the driveway. Had the Golf for 20 years on variable servicing - The car was fine for what we do as well.... The Scala is just better! 😄 Best wishes Martin
  7. Hi All, We have a 2023 Scala with very low mileage. 14 months old and only 2,000 miles. (Fortunately long drives mixed in with short journeys.) However, I got a 'oil change' message come up recently. On investigation, the dashboard info on 'servicing'' shows the below info: Inspection in 17,900mi or 245 days. Oil Change Service in 10,900mi or 19 days. Do I just go by the 'Oil change by 10,900mi' and not worry about the 19 days??? I'd happily get a service done this summer, like I did with my Mk5 Golf, so if any issues / Breakdowns, at least the weather will be warm then if waiting on the roadside for the RAC man etc. Hope you can advise. Regards Martin PS: I had the same issues with our old M5 golf - The dashboard always got the variable servicing reminders wrong / early. Software Gremlins. In the end, had the car serviced every 2 years, even though low mileage, so the car was at least inspected periodically as well, on top of the MOT etc. PPS: I'm always nervous of getting servicing done by a new, unknown to me, garage - and potentially introducing new issues from having a perfectly running car worked on. This will be our 1st service on the Scala, done by a Skoda main dealer. Our Golf was serviced for over 15yrs by our trusted local small garage. I was not impressed with the VW main dealer servicing when the car was new.
  8. phew! I thought you were going to say, there was a known issue with that engine model, loose secondary coolant tube, flapping at the front, et cetera et cetera 🙂 Thanks, great car, really like it! Hope you have a nice bank holiday
  9. thanks, 1982, That’s exactly the kind of technical know-how, I was after! Cool, will enjoy the car with a clear conscience then 🙂
  10. thanks Jon for the sanity check! 🙂 I think I can live with that. I did say when I bought the Scala that I will be less precious about the car, totally unlike the golf GTi, where I didn’t really enjoy it that much when it was pristine. Concerned about getting its first dint Etc.
  11. Hi All, The Missus found a good link, covering all leaking liquids in the car: Guessing my original assessment was right https://www.rac.co.uk/drive/advice/know-how/car-leaking-how-to-identify-liquid-dripping-from-your-car-and-what-to-do/ With regards to our Scala though, hoping you guys can advise from your experience with the model. I.e. 1. Is this area of drips a known issue with the Scala? E.g. Is this a common Issue with panel shaping, that happily collects rain water and drips it out in an unsightly way at the front. 2. Any other rain issues with the Scala? E.g. I have also noticed rain water when I open the 4 doors. The water collects on the metal body, before you get into the car, but doesn't drip into the cabin thank goodness. My old golf never had this. 3. What do I do about this specific front dripping? It is not a good look to our 1st Skoda car. At the 1st glance from anyone, it looks like something is really wrong with the car! Besides this, we really like the car to bits 😀 Kind regards Martin
  12. Hi All, 2 months into 1st Skoda ownership - got my 1st water leak 🤔 I drove the car on Friday, and parked up on driveway. Lots of rain on Saturday, dry today on Sunday. So, many hours later after rain - driveway and roads all dry now by 2pm Sunday - And I notice a constant water drip, from RHS of Front Reg plate. See below screenshot. Literally every 15 seconds approx, another drip. As per below screenshot, the paving below the car is damp. Rest of the driveway is dry. I felt and smelt the drip - its is not sweet and viscous like coolant etc. Feels like water. I upped the bonnet and check the fluids - all ok. Topped the windscreen water - not much to add at all after 2 months driving in rain. ...Soo...... I moved the car to the end of the close. Parked up for a bit, and checked - the drip has now gone. Spirit level - For both locations: Width ways - I checked with Spirit level - and the car is 0% dead level on the Reg plate. (Spirit level from iPhone.) Length ways - I did NOT check this - I'm not sure how to on the car! Perhaps the locations are; Downhill on driveway, and level - when parking out on road? Is this a normal oddity of the Scala? I.e. Rain water collects in the body panels - and if car not on level ground - drips out of the front right!? What do I do?: The coming week is forecast as dry. If this water drips goes away - Do I just leave it?! Or is this something to take back to the dealer to check out regardless? I take it I don't need to checked ASAP - as I say all the fluids levels under the bonnet were fine etc. Hope you can advise Regards Martin
  13. that is hilarious! Okay, so my update message was as I said. Do I need to actually say yes for the update though? Or will it update itself in due course? If I don’t accept the update, does that mean I have a whole mishmash of missed optional security updates, for example, on top of any that autoload? manic busy at the moment, I just want to drive the car, rather than wrestle with poor OS! Hope you can advise. Martin.
  14. I do agree with you. The VC screen needs work to make the sat nav guidance better. Smaller Rev and speed counters, better graphics etc. regards Martin
