  1. Hi all, we have just joined the numerous owners here on this cam belt change subject, having received this afternoon a phone call from our dealer ( with whom it was booked for change Monday coming ) to advise Skoda have dramatically revised the recommended change interval to 15years 140k miles. It may be good news, but why do I feel skeptical….🤔 ours is 1.5 tsi with ACT but the dealer knows this, was going to get an email confirmation but seeing all the info posted here not sure I need to… I should add, car is now 5yrs old with 21K miles and only rising slowly….
  2. Ethereum, this approach was exactly our experience as well. I do not know what our engine code is, but it is a 1.5 petrol with ACT and DSG transmission. Again we were quoted £1100, as we had a free service due this must (surely) have been just for the belt change. It was at this point we challenged and negotiated with the dealer. The outcome, although I’m not suggesting everyone will reach it, was a written quote of £550 give or take, along with a courtesy car for duration of job, probably 3 days because we live a fair distance from dealer doing the work. Challenge, hunt around see what you can get, I just don’t want to worrying about snapping belts, dropped valves, all you’re basic nightmares…. Good luck.
  3. Thanks to all for the responses, still finding our way round this forum business but we’ll get there.. looks like I’ll be going for “all season” tyres, can’t afford to change rims with cambelt job on the horizon.. besides, I do like the Crater wheels, I guess I just thought going up a touch in profile would provide a bit more “give” but from comments it seems probably not….
  4. Hi all, wondering if anyone has reliable info or experience of changing tyre profile on 2018 Karoq Executive ? Car has 225/40/R19 which I believe is standard fitment with 19” Crater wheels. I am aware that the Scout version, which I think is 4 x 4 has 225/45/R19 tyres on same rim. In search of a smoother, less bumpy ride I am thinking about the slightly higher profile as per Scout. Skoda dealer won’t advise, and seems reluctant to check part nos for suspension to see if there are any differences that may cause a problem going up a fraction. Anyone out there done this or been in this position ? Regards…

    Hi all

Toot, our Karoq is 5 yrs old in April, I asked dealer for printout of S/History as nothings in the book nowadays. First quote was £1187, when I rang dealer’s service department directly and had a conversation about the circumstances ( only had car 9 months) and pointed out ( politely) that if we had bought the car a while later they would have had to do it anyway ( according to Skoda website) quote became £555 , along with the other arrangements mentioned in our previous post. As this is first time we’ve had to have this work done we’re not sure if this is a drop for “goodwill “ or a genuine misquote, but we’re going with it anyway for piece of mind, then it’s done if we want to trade up to a Kodiak…
  6. we have just found ourselves in the same position, initially quoted £1187 I think. Subsequent conversation with the dealers service dept. expressing our dissatisfaction over this ( as we only bought the car from them 8 months ago and it has only 17k on the clock ) bought to light that we had been " misquoted" and price was in fact £555 approx. No mention was made about two types of belt, no mention of water pump or ACT system . Also to help us swallow this bitter pill they have offered to a) collect the car and deliver it back when complete ( handy as we are 1 1/2 hrs from them or b) provide us with courtesy car for 2-3 days while work is done, which takes pressure off both us and them. Seems its always worth a conversation if you approach it calmly , providing of course you get the right person at the other end.... good luck, if you haven't already tackled this....
  7. We have recently become owners of a 2018 Karoq 1.5TSI ACT DSG Edition model
