  1. Just to update... Made another 2 hour trip! Not sure that's wise but did it fine, I read about "controlling" the coolant temp but raising the heating in the car! I noticed as I went over 50 the temp increased slowly, so with some very cautious driving and a very very very hot cabin it only got near the red once at that point oil temp was also 115!! The last hour it didn't even move from 90 again, oil around 98 - 105 which is normal, so whatevers happening isn't all the time!
  2. Is that the "common problem" I'm reading about?! Thanks for the reply. I'll get into the garage Monday and get a price from my independent and Skoda too. Belt and waterpump done in 2017 30k ish, nothing since 😔. So it's overdue the belt. 80 k currently
  3. Haven't checked that yet! But will do. Had to park up and run . Assuming I'd get some form of error message but I'll check when I can get to car
  4. Was happily doing 50 in roadworks on motorway, they ended, accelerated to 70, 30 seconds later I had the engine temp overheating stop car. Coolant temp was in red and rising. Not knowing what to do I slowed down moving to the slow lane ready to pull onto hard shoulder, and it rapidly dropped to 90 before I could stop. Yes it's a 2l tdi so assuming coolant / pump issue but it had it replaced in 2017? That's not the main issue I'll book it in garage Monday I've got 2 hrs on motorway to get home... Am I safe to drive if it does it again or do I need to stop? Is it actually overheating and will it go bang? Lol Would I be safer going back / smaller roads if I need to pull over thinking about it? Thanks!
  5. Thanks guys. More than happy to go genuine, not expecting much performance wise, but after a quick look at the amount of crap on the filter and leaves in the air box it might help a little. Stupid question, I can't find an actual skoda part, or is Bosch etc used anyway? Thanks
  6. Diesel VRS, going to change air filter even though it's not on the actual schedule, but I've seen it's easy and cheap so would rather a new one than wait for thousands more miles. My question, should I go Skoda and get Genuine? Or will one from somewhere like Euro car parts be nearly identical? Thanks!
  7. Thank you. Just tried this, it did some noisy motor moving but seems to have made no difference. I manually select front vents and full heat and it blasts out. Select full heat on auto and it stops coming out front and the back passenger vents but comes out windscreen and feet? Unless it's doing it to mot blast you with hot air! I set it to full cool on auto and all vents blow cool air!
  8. When I start my car after 5 or so seconds I hear what sounds like a motor creaking almost. From behind the central front 2 vents. Is this normal? It's like somethings setting up / getting ready / moving?! Also if I set my heat to near full / max heat on auto, it feels like no air comes out! Don't get me wrong the car gets hot, but the fans don't seem to blow if you put your hand in front. If i manually select front fans and turn power up I can feel it fine (not overly powerful but more than auto) Thanks
  9. Thanks again. Tyre pressures is a good shout I'll check that too, did recently but worth another check. The eagles are something I'll look into also then, I don't know if I'm lucky but I find most times I get new tyres there's a buy 2 get 5% off or similar offer on. I fact just checked and the ps4 are today £211 fitted for 2. Shame I don't need them right now!
  10. Thanks all for the replies. I think it's most likely just a different experience than I'm used too. I've always had lighter smaller cars with much smaller Tyres so it could be that. Examples recently were on 60 roads, clear no rain but previous heavy rainfall had left large patches or water across the road that wasn't visible. As mentioned I drive mainly with a young family in car so I don't drive hard at all especially in rain and I'm as observant as I can be giving myself time to safely slow before hitting the unavoidable water! It's not as if I feel the car is going to lose control at all. Just it's less grip than usual whereas previously on cars I may not have noticed any difference. All tyres are a couple months old with plenty of tread. I read a couple reviews stating they weren't good in wet in comparison to a micheln ps4, I've then read let a LOT of VRS users using that tyre so might be my next try!
  11. Evening all. With the lovely rain we've been having lately I've noticed my VRS Estate not being the most stable in small amounts of standing water. I'm not sure aquaplaning is what's happening but when driving through small amounts of standing water at speed (40+) sometimes the car feels as if it momentarily has less grip, I'm talking what's probably milliseconds but enough to notice. I'm never one too speed through any wet weather and if I spot standing water / puddles / see the car in front spray etc I always brake / slow down (before in the water)! But sometimes it's not possible. I've not really experienced it before in a car but this is my first estate car and also my first low profile tyre so my question, are these two factors more of a reason? I think I'd like to change tyre brand next time too so any recommendations for good wet weather tyres. Currently 225 40 18 Goodyear vectors. Thanks!
  12. @EnterName Thank you for the response here. I thought I read similar about wd40. I'm the same I keep my cars so I don't want to risk anything that will just make things worse in the long run. I tried the gummi pflege, it did nothing cosmetically! I think I'll resign myself to the fact there is no "cure" for rubber and I'll try a restorer and just do it every couple months. I've read car guys do a good one for rubber that can last a couple months, I'll go with something like that! Thanks for your help though.
  13. To update. It's really not made any difference, just seems wet to the touch all the time and if anything made the spots/fading come out more! Need a new plan....!
