I currently drive a 2006 Fabia VRS tgat I've had from new.
It's got 85,000 miles on her and has been very reliable on the whole, but its time for a change.
I commute 5 miles each way to work & back with the occasional run out on a weekend, so not doing big mileage, so there's no real need for a big diesel motor (other than the having the power for easy overtakes) so I'm considering a Scala 1.0 110ps.
I want the SEL for the toys, but the thing that is doing my melon in is do I ho manual or DSG???
NOW, some info. I drive for a living, delivering & collecting Lease cars all around the UK, so I've grown to love an Auto box. But as there new or nearly new (under 4 year old) and serviced regularly and at no cost to me, whether its had gearbox problems is not my problem or something I'd ever find out. But I've read on here about problems regarding the DSG gearbox failing, certainly giving problems that can cost 2 grand to fix.
Now, I can just about manage a new manual, or used Auto, or should I go used, 1-2 year old to save a few quid?
I'd love Heated seats and rear view camera, but my only no no is black & white colours. My Vrs is black & it rarely looked clean when it was new. Now it has a bit of rust around sills and a couple wheel archers. Anyway, love a blue one, but grey or silver would be fine too.
So.... do I go DSG (my preferred option) or am I better (safer) to go manual??? Bare in mind I kept my last car 16 years, so this car I plan to keep 10 years and add 60,000 miles to, so I don't want a big expense of replacement Auto box in that time.
Your thoughts & advice would be most welcome, cheers in advance.
