  1. As a note it had a brand new engine fitted at 56k miles by Skoda (presumed a previous fleet vehicle). However, there are no stickers on the cambelt casing. Nor in the wheel well to identify the engine. No idea what year that would have been but it was prior to my dads ownership. Mostly I'd just like to know exactly what thermostat I'd need? Using the reg on Autodoc returns two different types of thermostat. The long thinner one and one that I believe should come in its own housing?
  2. It's a 63 plate. Not too clued up on if its a mk2 or 3.
  3. Hey all, I'm troubleshooting my dad's 2013 octavia elegance 1.6tdi cr. It has sporadic overheating issues which we are hoping is a dodgy thermostat. The issue is I'm uncertain on what type of thermostat the car needs. In essence we were driving down the road for 30 or so minutes when the temp gauge shot to red. We immediately pulled over. The fans were on, the oil was steaming hot. The header tank however was cold. Turning the heating on keeps the gauge where it should be and also caused the header tank to become warm. Which makes me think the heatercore being in circuit has got the thermostat to open. Have looked everywhere for the cars engine code to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
