Loss Engine Power
Hi. Had noticed that brake servo pipe did have a split in it, which I taped up as a temporary measure. As far as I can tell can't see how it would still be leaking. But before doing any thing more will get new servo pipe. Can vacuum pipe, which can be brought on ebay for a good price, be used. As getting it from Skoda is very expensive for what it is. Many thanks.

Loss Engine Power
Hi. Brake light switch change seems to have addressed the issues that I was having. See above. As have done quite a few miles without problems. Now noticed that sometimes if car is put into neutral when slowing, revs fluctuate before settling. Have had this issue on occasions for quite a while. Did diagnostic test and code for engine speed sensor showed. Wasn't showing when had trouble with brake switch. Maybe that fault code was masking it? Has anybody an idea of where this sensor can be located on a Skoda Fabia HTP 2007, and is it hard to change Many thanks.

Loss Engine Power
Hi. Fitted new brake switch and I think that it may have worked. Have driven about 45 miles and in this time have put the interior fan on numerous times to test whether it still starts the issue to occur. Twice when I did this there was a very slight hesitation, which hopefully is just a blip. Time will tell. If the problem resurfaces I will fit a new throttle body. Can anybody recommend a good mid range diagnostic code reading scanner that also adapts throttle bodys on a Fabia. Thanks for your input guys.

Loss Engine Power
Hi. Have used an OBD2 scanner and a fault code for the brake switch comes up. Have read that this can cause the EPC light to come on, also that it can cause throttle body problems as it's linked to the ECU unit. Will replace this switch first. One nevers knows it may do the job, worth a try as it only cost about £12. If problem persist will fit new throttle body. Many thanks for your replys.

Loss Engine Power
Hi Alasdair. Wiring from, to ecu unit looks OK. There are 4 brown wires that are near the ecu unit that are grounded. All are secure and clean. I also secured ecu unit. The only thing I can think to do now is put a new throttle body on because of initial mention made by RAC man, and they also mentioned the throttle body in the garage where I had a diagnostic test done. I'm not convinced that this is the issue though. Any further ideas before I replace the throttle body? Kind regards.

Loss Engine Power
Hi Alasdair. Thanks for the reply. Have checked negative lead from battery to bodywork and also under battery tray. Both fine. Will look into lead from ECU unit. Did notice that ECU unit is a little lose where it is located, due to plastic locating tabe being broken. Could this cause a problem? Thanks.

Loss Engine Power
Help!! Not sure if I'm posting this in the correct website section, but here goes. Model: Skoda Fabia, petrol, HTP, 1200cc, 2007. When driving put interior fan on and car losses power, EPC light comes on. Turn fan off, problem remains and EPC light stays on. After resting car for period of time issue goes, light off. The interior fan seems to start issue. Battery, alternator been tested, both OK. Went to garage, who did diagnostic test, couldn't find anything, but said something about throttle body voltage drop. RAC man also mentioned throttle body needs cleaning, when I originally broke down. Have removed, and cleaned. Am not convinced that it is this. Any ideas? Many, thanks. PS: After replacing and inspecting throttle body, still have issue.

Central Locking
Thanks for the reply. I will try to isolate the door. Kind regards.

Central Locking
Thanks for the reply. No my fabia hasn't got this feature. As suggested above I need to check connections, but like you say there is a chance its a faulty door sensor. Kind regards.

Central Locking
Thanks for the ideas. I will start to go through them and will post the outcome. The doors can be locked/unlocked from inside by a button that sits in front of the gear lever. Like you suggested I will check connections. I have noticed that when I unlocked the car there is a slight delay in the passenger door unlocking. I think that this will be my first door wiring to check. Kind regards.

Central Locking
Hi all. I have a Skoda Fabia, 1200cc, 2007 model. Problem, central locking activates by itself, locks/unlocks, whilst driving. Also does it when parked. Fault is intermittent. Have changed key fob battery. Any suggestions please. Kind regards.

Skoda Fabia 2007 1200cc
Hi. Thanks for the reply, also apologies for the late answer. Lifted rear bench seat and took photo. Please see attached. It looks like the big round plastic cover is for the fuel tank, which sits below it. Not sure about the two outer lines. They look like two tubes rather than wiring. Hopefully you can have an idea by looking at the photo. Kind regards.

Offside wishbone Skoda Fabia 2007
Hi. Sorry for the delay in replying. Job of replacing lower wishbones with new rubber bushes all done. Nearside all went OK. Offside is where one as to get more involved to overcome a few problems. Biggest problem, as wrote about above, is the removal of the wishbone bolt. The way I did this was to disconnect gearbox tie, "dogbone". Once this is done one can rock engine back and forth, transversely. I then had to disconnect all 4 exhaust rubbers and support exhaust. I tried this without disconnection of the exhaust, but still did not allow bolt to clear sump, ie could not raise front of engine enough so that bolt would clear the sump. When I had disconnected the exhaust I then used a trolley jack to raise front of engine whilst at the same time pulling on bolt. Bolt popped out I then lowered engine until putting bolt back in. Note: Be very careful when raising front of engine, the secret is to slow down and take your time and also checking all the time that nothing is getting damaged. I used a bush pulling/Insertion tool to replace the new rubber bushes and a rachet strap to pull wishbones into their rubbers. Use fairy liquid on the rubbers then the wishbones slide in very easy. I also lubricanted around the rubber bushes and inside their housing before fitting. I did this with copper grease and a little oil. Using the above tools is in my opinion well worth the expense. Hope this is helpful to read for someone who is attempting the above job.

Offside wishbone Skoda Fabia 2007
Thanks for the reply. Sounds good I'll give this ago before any disconnection of the top engine mount. Now I can remember a few years ago rocking the engine of a Peugeot by disconnection of the gearbox 'dogbone' Again that time I needed access for something at the back of the engine. I will let you know how it goes. Many thanks.

Offside wishbone Skoda Fabia 2007
Hi. Thanks for the reply. There is an engine mount 2 feet or so above the wishbone. This is the one that I think I need to disconnect and raise the engine an inch or two. Hope to speak to someone who as had the same issue and find the way that they gained access to the bolt. The danger of raising the engine could compromise the exhaust, other connections etc. Kind regards.

Offside wishbone Skoda Fabia 2007
Hi all. Just changed nearside, wishbone, ball joint, bush etc, all good. When it came to doing other side when removing wishbone bolt it retracts into engine sump and cannot be removed. No doubt there is a way around this, as do not want to start raising engine, or sump removal until sure that this is the only way it can be done. Kind regards.

Hi all. Just a quick intro. I have a Skoda Fabia which I keep in top running order. From servicing to stripdowns. Having done this through the years with all my cars. Many years ago I was a professional motor mechanic and although not staying working within that field I always followed an interest in car mechanics.
