Loud clunking noise when aircon switched off
Yes and no. Bit of a trial with Looker's - they had a look, but didn't take off the glovebox or dash (why?) despite having the car for 8 hours, so it went back in 2 weeks later when they finally took off the dash and reckon the recirc motor has had it. Naturally they couldn't get the part, so it's another 3-4 weeks waiting, but it now seems to be working absolutely fine. I suspect the motor's cogs might have come out of alignment or the unit is/was loose. Unfortunately, no way of knowing with these dealers and what they do or don't do, but I'm grateful for working AC at the moment regardless.

Cambelt change needs special 'laser guided' tool?
Ah. Right, cheers. Got about 18 months to save which is something.

Cambelt change needs special 'laser guided' tool?
Hi. Car went into a Looker's today under Approved Used warranty to fix an aircon issue. It was there 8 hours and their diagnosis was: they need the car for another day in order to take the dash off and investigate the noise. I didn't ask what took 8 hours of their time today. Anyway, while there I asked how much they charge for a cambelt change. £1250 because this specific engine (1.5TSI) needs a laser-guided machine to calibrate each tooth/spoke/thing on the cambelt. These cost £5000 and there aren't many, so Skoda share them around. By this point, my bull**** klaxon is deafening me and I can tell my face is doing all sorts - this cannot be true! Anyone heard of this, or is it one for the wall of dealer shame? Seems like absolute, gold-plated horse ****. Will

Recirculation flap noise
Think I have same issue on my Kodiaq. Don't suppose you took photos of the work you did @iamesosteam?

Loud clunking noise when aircon switched off
Pretty convinced it's the recirculation motor/flap, an alignment issue or something's loose. Reluctantly booked in as I'm under warranty but they're already suggesting it doesn't fall under the 12-month warranty, so I might have a go at taking a look...

Loud clunking noise when aircon switched off
Hi. New owner, 2019 Tsi model, all fine until today when I turned off the aircon and heard a loud, mechanical, thudding clunk from the passenger footwell. It happened again when turning it back on, as well as putting it in reverse. Once on (or off) it was fine. It's working as expected otherwise. It isn't 100% consistent and I think it may have also happened when the parking brake came on, but so far it seems like it's aircon/climate related but does anyone have any ideas? It has 12 months' warranty from Approved Used dealer but curious to know whether I can sort it without the inevitable fighting. Video: https://share.icloud.com/photos/05fKjZFm3vjHx3SbHNVvCi-VQ

Are all dashcam mounts the same?
Great idea. Thanks.

Aircon intake / thermometer location?
Ah, cheers.

Aircon intake / thermometer location?
Hi. In other climate control systems I've had on other cars (I remember Golf mk4s in particular) they had little air intakes which measured the temperature of the cabin, and you'd keep them clean and clear from dust. Can't see any on my Kodiaq. Because I'm a boring person, does anyone know where they are and if we need to pay special attention keeping it free of dust etc? Cheers Will

Checking my Service History to confirm cambelt change
<snip>… New Skoda owner here, Kodiaq 2019, very happy with the car but struggling to believe the situation with the service history. Dealer (Looker's) could give me dates of inspections/oil changes/services but no detail, none whatsoever. Are we really to believe this is acceptable?! They can't even tell me which garage did the work in the previous services, or so they claim. And now, the sales manager of the dealership claims my engine (1.5 Tsi) is chain driven rather than belt. Four minutes' research told me only the 2.0 petrol engines were on a timing chain rather than cambelt. Happy to be mistaken but I have no faith in him or his knowledge. Has anyone found a method of getting detailed service history? Is there someone on here who might happen to have access to Skoda's systems (or is it really as fragmented as they suggest, where individual dealerships' info is siloed?) Cheers

Are all dashcam mounts the same?
One of the Looker's (so I suppose not technically a dealer, but Approved Used network). The manager asked me not to mention it online and bought me for £220 or whatever so, will leave it there for now, but depends how I get on removing the junk from both screens...

Are all dashcam mounts the same?
I'll give you another example, slightly more ambiguous. In the car's description they had "Rear view camera". I love my cars but I am probably not like most people on this forum - I do skip some detail, so I assumed this meant it came with a rear-view reversing camera. I think most people would make that (false) assumption too. When I got there, there was a tiny camera slapped on the rear windscreen, no cables or power to it. It's still there. I thought this was pretty crap. Even if "rear view camera" does mean a camera unconnected to the screen, it's cheap and low of them to pass this off as one. They agreed to give me £250 cash (claiming this is 50% of the cost of having an aftermarket reversing camera fitted), which I was happy with as I know it's £320 inc VAT, but am still peeved that they tried to weave their way out of it. "Oh we never said there was a reversing camera!" etc.

Are all dashcam mounts the same?
Was bought from a dealer who have been playing silly buggers. Was quicker to ask the oracles here rather than decrypt the dealer bs.

Great advice all round. Cheers

Are all dashcam mounts the same?
Hi all Bought my first Kodiaq last week, 2019 1.5 Edition. Absolutely over the moon, but when I turned up at the dealer, they’d taken off the dashcam but left the mount. They claimed there was no camera (!), despite sending me a video of the car’s interior which … showed a dashcam and cabling attached. Anyway. After a bit of a tussle, chose to ignore it and sort one myself. The bloke claimed all dashcam mounts were identical which sounded like bs - photo attached. I’m assuming he’s talking bowl ox? And if I need to remove the mount, any advice on best method/tool? Seems concreted on. Cheers Will
