  1. Thanks silver1011, I'll get some to use on the annoying stone chip that has appeared!
  2. Sorry can't find the answer using the search facility, so can someone tell me what is the correct colour used on L&K silver alloy wheels please? Thanks in anticipation.
  3. Thanks for the info.silver1011. Having bought various new cars in the last 36 years, I've come to expect this sort of service, the notable exception being my local Toyota dealer. They also only managed to get the correct pressure in one out of the four tyres! As I say, this does not amaze me at all, but even in trying times, dealers still can't get their act together.
  4. Slightly nerdish question I know, but when I picked up my new L&K yesterday, the envelope, who's contents should have been sorted by the dealer, was still sealed. Amongst the various documents etc. were some stickers. I know where two of them should go, as my previous elegance had them, but the third one is puzzling me. This one has the following wording. WARNING. No jacking or tie down on this rear axle beam. Anyone know where to stick this, and I do mean on the car!
  5. Thanks james_19742000, I'll have a word. with the dealer.
  6. Ordered my 1.8TSI L&K on 6.12.11, told today that it has a build date, and expected at the dealers in about three weeks. Asked if I could have it with new reg., but salesman said that Skoda want payment within ten days of delivery. Anyone else had this info., is there any way round it? Friend of mine ordered an Elegance DSG early October 2011, and still has not heard anything!
  7. Had my first service done here as the price quoted was the cheapest. I opted to have the brake fluid changed at a reduced cost. All seemed fine, except every wheel had greasy hand marks on it! Another problem was that I was not asked to bring my drivers license with me when collecting the curtesy car, however, they let me have one, as long as I produced said license when I dropped the car off. Bit late then I thought!
  8. My experience of Skoda dealers has not been good. Compared to Toyota dealers they leave a lot to be desired. As for using VW dealers for servicing, when I asked my local dealers for a quote, thy told me that they didn't service Skodas!
  9. Sounds like a sticking calliper. Take the wheel off and check, you may also find that the disc has been damaged, and possibly the wheel bearing.
  10. Non factory fitted front parking sensors DO NOT appear on the display. They do have a different beep to that emitted by the rear sensors, and have an off switch as well.
  11. I run a 2.0 FSI which is nearly two years old, and a friend of mine has one which is nearly three years old. We are both very happy with this engine. Truth be told though that we are not particularly enamoured with diesels. Having said that though, neither of us does particularly high mileages, so petrol does cost in.
  12. Had mine fitted by the stealer, they can be switched off, but reactivate as soon as the ignition is switched off. They work well, but can come on in heavy spray, if this is a problem, then just switch them off. Be aware that the sensors are black, and if you want them sprayed, make sure the masking rings are in place, as paint in the grooves will cause the sensors to malfunction. I personally just used touch up paint, looks fine unless you get really close! They work independently of the rear sensors, and do not have the same facilities as the factory fitted options.
  13. I told my insurance company about all the extras, (yes, they didn't know what ESP was either!), but the premium did not increase because of this. I have an Elegance 2 litre FSI, and I'm with Prudential at the moment. Perhaps it's a combination of age, location, and model?
  14. My screen chipped and cracked within less than four months of ownership. The new screen then suffered a severe chip just two months later, which fortunately was repaired, but was touch and go. In forty four years of motoring this has been my only replacement screen, and the only repair needed. I think that the screens are under more tension, and they are certainly thinner.
