Hello all, I'm new to this forum. I have a question to ask about regarding my 2011 Octavia (Mk2) 1.6 tdi, with just over 100000km on the clock.
I have seen plenty of similar posts to this one but they don't seem to answer my question.
The coil light on the dash intermittently comes on, but recently has been coming on more often, this doesn't always give an fault code, but when it does it is P0101.
I cleaned the MAF sensor with correct fluid, but no difference so I replaced it only to get a once off fault code P0401 (EGR related ??).
I cleaned the throttle body and the duct pipe which was gunked up, and the coil light would still light up either with the P0101 code or no code at all. Each time this coil light comes on, it will disappear once the car is switched off and then restarted. Sometimes the engine management light comes on and I have to clear that code.
I have since replaced the original MAF sensor because the voltages on the 3 pins seem to match what I have seen as correct on various sites and youtube videos.
I've taken the car for a spin at high RPM (on a few occasions in the past) in the hope that it would clear the system out, but that doesn't seem to change things.
What I have noticed is the coil light is most likely to come on if I am going down hill with my foot off the throttle, and the DOT display shows 0.0 ltr/100km. I am dreading the possibility of having to replace the EGR unit given the cost involved.
I also think that the car doesn't do the regeneration thing (if thats the correct term) as often when I switch the engine off.
The car is generally running normally, I haven't noticed any excessive drop in power, or fuel consumption. There is however, an odd shudder every so often, but that's probably my driving style as I don't generally drive the car hard.
Has anyone out there any similar experience that could tell me to check something that I might have missed?
Many thanks in advance, Paul.👍
