  1. Oh and my bad chaps..might I add all this is based on the assumption that the rails on a MKIII are standard gauge/width...and the seats from Ambition/Style etc. likewise.
  2. Hi all Newbie here so go easy, I'd just like to fly this kite in the hope of some worthwhile advice shaking out from all you Skoda sages on here. Long story short..am on the cusp of purchasing a MK3 19 Plate Ambition for use as a taxi...and am looking to upgrade the upholstered mechanical lever/bracket seat (heated, so there's hope mind) to any leather version, purely for wear and tear and hygiene management purposes. From the limited scope of my knowledge I appear have 3 options.... Aftermarket full-leather upgrade (too expensive) or the leatherette cover equivalent (would most likely suffice in the short term but not ideal.) Retrofit the older lever and bracket mechanism to the sub-frame of the new powered seat (involving significant mechanical modification I'd imagine and an equivalent declaration therefore not ideal for insurance purposes). Cut and splice into the car wiring circuit using part of the loom with socket etc. scavenged from the donor breaker car so the power connectors match up etc. and I get the full range of seat capabilities. Of these three options I'm hoping the third might be the best one...but in truth all I want is to be able to move the new powered seats backwards and forwards so it's compliant for taxi purposes. Could any auto-electric sage on here or looking in tell me whether it's 12V or 5V power that is likely to be on the loom circuit feeding the seats? And if I didn't fancy said cut and splice into the car circuitry...could the seats be operated with the scavenged loom connected to say a small 12V battery sitting discreetly under the seat and operating in a simple two strand positive/negative setup? Many thanks in advance to anyone taking the time to read this post and reply. Best Jonny
  3. Hi Vidmore. Might I ask if the process was particularly complicated from a mechanical and/or electrical perspective roughly speaking? Am looking to swap in a set of leather seats into a MKII Superb with upholstery seats which I'm told are heated so at least there scope for some wiring wizardry...Cheers
  4. Hi guys As regards this, I'm in a similar ballpark with an Ambition MKIII where I'm looking to change from cloth upholstery to leather for 'hygiene purposes' given the intended use of the car is as a taxi...you can read between the lines there ahem.. Am I right in assuming that as most of the leather seats from the Style, L&K upgrade models are 'powered' as regard motion forward and back there is no mechanical redundancy built in as regards manual use with the simple old school rack and pinion catch option to lock etc? Also if I was to take part of the wiring loom with sockets etc. for the upgraded power seats from the scrapper is it a simple cut in and splice in job somewhere close on the assumption that it is a stock 5V power circuit? Many thanks in advance for anyone's thoughts and/or expertise on this. Jonny ;-)
  5. Or illumination bulbs missing possibly...bit of a stretch chap but anything is possible I guess. Oh well..it's back with the dealer/seller so I'll just have to see where he goes from here...interesting upon reporting an original MIL/Engine light the nuclear option of DPF removal was the first 'cure' offered. We'll see I guess. Many thanks again J. 😉

  7. Pete Many thanks for your input on this. Photo as requested, have no idea what I am even looking at mech wise but 'it' or ''they even once lived in the foil pouch under the plastic engine cover...I'm assuming they are the said ex-sensors that threw the fault codes but you can tell me different. Sure have a cut off it anyway, opinion much appreciated mate. Thx
  8. Hi all More motor woes and in need of a little advice please. Finally plucked up the courage to get my mechanic lift the engine cover and open the foil pouch to examine the exhaust pressure sensor and the DPF diff pressure sensor which were throwing fault codes and an engine light and limp mode on my newly acquired 250k mile '17 Mk3..needless to say the sight of 2 sensors and a wiring loom burnt to a crisp have left me with a very sinking feeling. Mechanics advice upon scanning and observing codes and said mech damage is that the DPF was very much blocked (you don't say!) and the XS heat and back pressure most likely did the damage. Just one question for you Smithys on here...should I have got the DPF dash light ('dots in the box') to indicate a fault/blockage as standard under the circumstances or is the lack of a dash light indicating same more common than imagined? Best regards and thanks in advance. J. 😉
  9. Hi all, Second post on here, high mileage MkIII (253k miles) that I thought was a bargain but there with more than a few issues to deal with...hopefully not but I'm sure you shrewdies on here can enlighten me either way anyway. As per previous initial post re: DPF differential pressure sensor fault code the car appears to drive fine, no loss of power or limp mode AFAICS, but I am still getting the engine light and associated fault codes upon ignition even after an Italian tune-up type of drive with a dash of Dipethane to try and get the DPF to sort itself. VCDS Fault code list is attached below. When the codes are cleared using VCDS the MIL goes off and the only 2 codes that remain and re-appear on ignition key cycle are 5253 Particulate Filter Differential Pressure Sensor P2452 Electrical Malfunction, and 9764 Exhaust Pressure Sensor 1. Is it possible one sensor is malfunctioning (DPF Diff Press Sensor) and setting the others off, or is it likely my DPF is toast given the high mileage on the car to date? And excuse my ignorance re; Mk3's and the vagrancies of DPF symptoms in general...but if the DPF was indeed blocked or blocking I should surely get a filter or glow plug symbol on the dash or similar. P.S. The car has just had the Timing Belt changed (advised but who knows) and I'm hoping maybe it's the DPF differential pressure sensor alone that's the most likely culprit? Many thanks in advance for any advice you might have. Best regards Joinny 😉
  10. Many thanks mate. Will do that and have a look at the sensor to see where it is at physically (esp. given the TB was changed recently). 🙏🙏🤞
  11. J.R. Many thanks for this, picture attached below with DPS adaptation value as requested. Bizarrely the code has since vanished and has not been reproduced upon key ignition cycle...but it will most likely re-surface when I take her out for a spin later. As regards the Offset Adaptation Routine could you kindly further advise re: the procedure? I'm running a very old version of VAGcom VCDS (due to be shortly upgraded) and the interface under the Engine Module is as per picture with some RB options greyed out.. Hopefully there's an alternative workaround for the CAN version I have. Many thanks again for the initial steer in any event. Jonny
  12. Hi guys (and girls) Newbie here, so go easy.. Just joined the club by purchasing a 2017 Superb Mk III at a good price, high mileage (250k plus miles) being the sobering element of the decision concerned. Car drives very well, but throws a fault code for the differential pressure sensor on the DPF, it's generated without fail upon each key ignition cycle (been investigating using my VAG-COM) even when cleared..Engine Light comes on from 20 miles onwards (it's related I'm assuming). No DPF dash icon (yet) so am hoping it's a bogey sensor only with a recent TB change..the soot readings of -12g measured vs 13g measured are what caught my eye (see picture of VCDS fault code) as being a little bit strange. Before I send her into the local 'stealership' for further investigation I'm wondering have any of you scholars on here experience a similar fault code and if the reported masses are anything near expected for a clogged DPF (20g plus would be the norm I'm assuming). Thank you all in advance, here hoping you might save a man a few quid and make me feel less of an idiot for having purchased a very expensive lemon most likely. Best regards Jonny ;-)
