Clock spring (Squib) broken.
The Ribbon in the clock spring was torn in two. Lucky it was right at the start of the ribbon so I only had to cut off about an Inch to even it up before stripping the plastic covering off the 6 copper wires., The soldering was very delicate but worked. Airbag light just has to be reset, all good so far.

Clock spring (Squib) broken.
Just a follow up. I went to the garage and in 5 mins they got rid of the airbag sign. So all clear now, perfect, I will just be a little careful not to go 100% lock on the steering.

Clock spring (Squib) broken.
Hi Taz thanks for posting. Mine is 5K0-953-569-D 4th box of numbers on your list. I seen on ebay a guy was selling my number and it belonged to a VW Sirocco so was wondering did any of the other numbers on the part point to a Skoda or VW? I took a chance today and got the soldering iron out Like JR had said, took a while but got a half good job done. Put it in and couldn't believe it worked. Everything works fine. I still have an Air Bag light/sign up on the clock but will drive it around and it might go away. If not my friendly garage might just clear it for me. Thanks a lot guys.

Clock spring (Squib) broken.
fix Finally got around to pulling off the steering wheel. The code ends in D which seems to also suit a VW sirocco 2008-14 and a Octavia 1.8tsi on ebay parts. Wife had to use the car so put it back together quickly without being able to check out the Ribbon or solders. The other numbers ID the exact car I presume. The date and time is there. The HD009 is the Chip/board used I think. Does anyone know what the (2), 0941 and 280.314DE meen? Do these numbers have to be the same on the replacement part to be sure it does everything or would the CS for the Sirocco and 1.8tsi Octavia be ok to use? Hoping not to have to go to the garage to have it recoded. BUT if the main code number ending in D was the same would it fix all my faults just need the recode? Thanks.

Clock spring (Squib) broken.
I've seen the Youtube videos of it being done alright, and I have soldered a few bits, terminals and sleeving wires but no expert. You can hear the ribbon rubbing as you turn the steering wheel so I thought the ribbon tore or perished. Could it be that a few solders have snapped or wires. Sort of be afraid if it broke again and wires touched the bags could go off while driving. Wife drives it a lot. Have you done one your self?

Clock spring (Squib) broken.
Thanks J.R. So you think I would get away with putting it in myself if it was the exact same model without reprogramming? I'm not a mechanic but have always tinkered around cars and bikes. The job looks very simple once the battery is disconnected, half hour job, but thought codes had to be entered. Lad that had a look for me has all the tech equipment, so was going to source the part and let him code it in. I'll check Rosstech site thanks.

Clock spring (Squib) broken.
Hello, Newbie here, so go easy on me please. 1.2tsi ambiente, Had a lad look at it and was told to see if I could get a second hand part. He mentioned a "Non Cruise Control" version was the one to get. So if a breakers had an Octavia, which model should it be coming off other than my exact model. Does it being a Diesel make a difference? Wouldn't have thought so. Is cruise control only on Elegant models? Also if the airbags have been deployed does this affect the clock spring? Basically what to go for, I'm in Ireland so any breakers you might know of that might have one. Thanks.
