  1. Good luck with you relocation and new venture. We relocated to Skye in 2010 from Hampshire, different world up here. Was Kayaking yesterday in a local loch, a great way to spend a few hours....
  2. Ha Ha, there used to be another one too! He messaged me telling me we had identical cars as well :| . Think he deleted a while back.
  3. Ive had this problem in the past and it was the temp sensor in the cylinder head not the thermostat.
  4. Greetings Alasdair, great to see another member on the IOS :sun:
  5. And mine! Having spent hours yesterday trawling through everything looking for a code!
  6. I have just replaced a regulator clip on mine having followed this useful guide and its a very straightforward job for anyone who does home mechanics. Parts are dirt cheap on Ebay. Two points I would make is don't separate the motor from the spool unless you really suspect cable damage as the spool and motor are joined so when you take the motor off the spool pops off and cables spring out then need to be rewound which can be tricky (as I found out). Second point is if one sides broken chances are other side may not be far behind so whilst your at it remove the door card on the other side and grease both sides of the metal slider on the regulator, you can reach inside the door to do this so whole job only takes around 15 minutes.
  7. Well Done Matt. Two questions: Are you still on the original clutch, and do you use fully synthetic oil?
  8. Ive always used the Halfords fully synthetic in mine, seems a very good oil for the price.
  9. Just passed the 150k on mine, still sweet as a nut. Oh, and ive found the cure for all this limp home nonsense, drive the ****** to Scotland and back!
  10. How straightforward is this cleaning procedure? Does it require new gaskets or seals to be fitted on re-fitting? I have always done all my own servicing etc, but have never cleaned/stripped the EGR valve.
  11. WOW!! I have just fitted a pair of Phillips Blue vision Headlight bulbs to my Octy and cannot believe the difference! For £15 with a pair of 5w sidelight bulbs these are a steal, and I am left wondering why it has taken me five and a half years to upgrade....... :wonder:
  12. Thankfully I havent had to get the clutch replaced yet. When I first got the car I phoned the dealer who had first supplied the car, and who had serviced it for the first three years (DM Keith) to find out what work had been carried out, but I got some unhelpful numpty who just kept quoting customer confidentiality and Data protection act cobblers...... I can only assume it had already been replaced at some point during the first three years, after all it had clocked up nearly 115,000 by that time. Ive had three MAFS, Coolant temp sensor, and the turbo rebuilt by AR turbo as the V V were knackered. Oh, and a nearside wheel bearing and new discs and pads all round.
