  1. Sounds familiar. I had the same on three occassions. Had to be recovered each time as RAC could not reset at the scene ( I was always at the wrong end of the country!). First two times, new exhaust sensor was fitted. Third and most recent time resulted in a complete DPF system being replaced. TF is was still under warranty!
  2. Not sure if my comments will help or fill you with dread! My vRS tdi is now 20 months old. Compny car and covered 89k. I have had a DPF problem for the last 4 months. Light coming on followed by Glowplug light then Engine light then into limp mode. Three times I have had to be recovered as RAC could not get the DPF figure down enough to reset the fault codes and get me going again. Never happens close to home. Once in Aberdeen, Once in Cambride and the last in Ipswich! Each time the dealer apparently fitted new exhaust sensors. Just got the vehicle back this week after 4 days in the dealer. Apparently had a complete new DPF system, for which they had to get authorisation from Skoda. Time will tell if the problem is finally sorted. Your service light problem may be related. I am on extended service programme and mine has also been throwing up odd service reminders. About 8k apart and I kept going back to the dealer and having re-set. Hope you have better luck!
  3. As SMSTEXT has indicated. You will probably need to set it up with VAGCOM.
  4. vRS TDI get my vote as a user/choser company car driver. After many years of company cars (inc BM's and SAAB's), the vRS is the only one which I look forward to an identical replacement. c50k miles/year and it does the job better than any other. Balance of space, comfort, performance, ease of use and the dreaded P11D, makes it ideal.
  5. If the very kind police officer had stopped me, then of course I would have been very polite. Probably thanking him for taking the time and effort in stopping me and pointing out the errors of my ways and how best I could be more considerate and helpful to other road users.
  6. Behave youselves around the Manchester area! Spotted on the M6 - Unmarked police vRS Mk2. Black. Reg: LS07---. Pulled a car at the M6 / M62 split, today.:(
  7. Had similar problems in the past. Exhaust sensor been replaced twice. After each replacement, things were fine. Have you had any replacements?
  8. Sorry if this sounds soooo obvious but I take it you have tried the On/Off switch in the centre of the console. You knew someone had to suggest this, right??
  9. You would definately have washers if they were xenons (factory fit that is) and I dont think you can retro fit. It is more likely that it has non standard bulbs to give the blueish colour.
  10. Can't help you with the DSG as I have a manual. Boot space is great. The Saab 95 boot carried all my needs for work and was full. Everything that fitted in the Saab fits easily into the Octavia. I didn't think it would initially so tried it at the stealer before buying.
  11. I had the Saab 95 2.2 TDi before taking the plunge with the vRS TDi. I had reservations and scoured this forum before making the decision. I didn't consider myself a badge snob but the Skoda image did come into it. However, as a user/chooser company car driver with a change every two years, I have no regrets in choosing the vRS and would happily have another one when changing in November. Something I would not have said for the Saab. Go for it. I don't think you will regret it.
  12. Check for small stone / gravel stuck between the disc and caliper/cover. I had the same screeching noise and that was the problem. No lasting damage but it make my teeth vibrate!
