Skoda Octavia MK2 1.6TDI Thermostat Replacement
Hello all! I have a Skoda Octavia MK2 1.6TDI (CAYC) with 161k miles on it. The last couple of months I've noticed my coolant temperature fluctuating. When on short trips it slowly heats up but when on the motorway it would go down to 0. Fuel economy is gone very poor with averaging 40mpg when prior I was achieving 55-60mpg. I've narrowed down the issue to the thermostat and have got a replacement Febi Bilstein thermostat with the housing. I've watched some videos on replacing it and have got mixed info and was wondering if anyone has any experience with this repair and if so any tips or tricks on the matter? Thanks in advance -Josh

Reverse Light Connector Issue
This is the switch I am using https://www.micksgarage.com/g/reverse-light-switches/products/139b1499455/standard-reverse-light-switch. I didn't notice that the switches mechanisms are slightly different, the new one is more of a tactile button while the original one is a spring loaded button that presses down a lot further. Maybe that's causing the issue.

Reverse Light Connector Issue
Hey all, A little update on this. So the wiring loom seems fine. I replaced the switch and the reverse lights doesnt work now when the car is in reverse. I added the old switch back and pressed the switch by hand and the reverse lights would get stuck on after releasing the swicth so I'm labeling that one as faulty. I placed the new one back into the connector and pressed it down by hand and the reverse lights would turn on and off as they should but when I place the switch back into the engine and put the car into reverse it doesn't work very strange. Anyone have any suggestions? @Breezy_Pete

Reverse Light Connector Issue
@Breezy_Pete Great, thanks for that. I'll investigate the wiring loom and work from there. Its a bit of a pain to get in at. I now that this wire is attached to another set of wires that's attached at a sprt of T junction, ill peel back the shielding until there. ill keep the thread updated with my findings. Thanks again for the help.

Reverse Light Connector Issue
@Breezy_Pete Yeah I took the actual switch out and I couldn't see anything off about it. It didn't seem to get stuck or anything which is making me think it's the wire/connector. I'm based in Ireland so I'm not sure if you'd be able to look up the reg but the VIN is TMBCT21Z1C2019064. Thanks in advance!

Reverse Light Connector Issue
@Breezy_Pete thanis for the reply! Yeah I found some of the connectors on Ebay for cheap with the part number so I can just order one. Yeah it's a weird one. When I push the wire and shield toward the connector I can hear what I assume to be the switch engage/disengage and the reverse lights turning off.

Reverse Light Connector Issue
Hello all, Looking for some advice. I've recently been plagued with my reverse lights staying on after putting the car into reverse and taking it out of reverse. I took out the sensor, cleaned and installed it again and the issue is still there. I then discovered that when the the reverse lights are on, if I move the wire attached to the reverse switch they turn off which would indicate to me that either the wire or connector has a loose connection. I was going to buy a new connector and snip the old connector but just wanted to double check that this is the issue just to be on the safe side. All replies are greatly appreciated.

Octavia Mk2 Coming Home Lights with Dipped Headlights
I have recently retrofitted my 2011 Skoda Octavia mk2 with automatic headlights, and I have turned on the Coming Home feature, but it only turns on the DRL and not the main headlights. I was wondering: Is there a way of doing this? I have the OBDeleven, so I can code it in, but I'm not sure where to start. Any help is greatly appreciated.

[Skoda Octavia MKII] Registration light Issue
Okay so I fixed the issue, sort of. I got an OBDeleven scanner and it showed some short/grounding issues with the rear lights so this is something I will have to look at soon. I cleared the errors and I still had a fault for the LED reg lights. I programmed in using the OBDeleven scanner that they were LED and now the bulb light on the dash is fixed! My radio is now not working but that's a story for a different day 😂 thanks for your help!

[Skoda Octavia MKII] Registration light Issue
Thanks for the reply man! Will have a look at this when I'm home. I had a look again yesterday after work. Basically, I put LED reg lights in and because they're bigger I had to bend the metal prongs of the bulb holder in order for the LED to fit and I believe that was causing the issue with the ordinary bulb as it wasn't holding the bulb tightly in place. I am going to put the old bulbs in when I get home and see does that fix the issue. Will keep you updated, thanks again

[Skoda Octavia MKII] Registration light Issue
Hello, I have a Skoda Octavia MKII (2011) I have recently got an orange light bulb warning on the dash. I had the lights checked when I was getting my headlights aligned and the mechanic wasn't sure why the light was on as my lights were all working. I then noticed one of the days my left reg light was out so I thought that was the reason the light was on. The warning on the dash would come on intermittently but would always go off. I then noticed the light would only come on if I turned on my lights but at this point all lights in the back of my car were working. I was doing a pretest for my full driving license (Ireland) and my driving instructor mentioned the light to me and I told him what I said above. He then proceeded to check my lights and we figured out my reverse lights were not working, both of them which I thought was weird. So I went to halfords and got new bulbs and put them in and they still weren't working. So I put the old ones back in, as the bulbs looked fine and now they are back working but now the left reg light isn't working again. I returned to halfords and got two new reg lights, I replaced the left light and turned the car on and it worked so I thought grand it's sorted now. So I replaced the right one and then the left one stopped working? which was previously working. The new lights are LEDs but I can't imagine that would make a difference but I could be wrong. I just wanted to post on the form to see if anyone has experienced this before before I start pulling the car apart looking for wire loom damage? I read on this forum it could be to do with a green fuse in the fuse box in the engine bay but I will check later when I'm home from work. Thanks in advance!

H7 LED bulb not fitting
Yeah I know, the LED unit came with instructions I I took it off and tried putting the plastic clip in first put it doesn't attach to anywhere and the bulb would just fall out. I'll give it another go later today, and let you know how I get on. I'll get more pictures too.

H7 LED bulb not fitting
The LED came with the black plastic clip that doesn't have the two metal bits that stick out like the halogen bulb does. So the LED won't slot into the headlight housing.

H7 LED bulb not fitting
Thanks for the reply! No it doesn't light up, the plastic on it is too small to fit into the slots. I thought because it's a H7 that it would work? Any recommendations on H7 LEDs that are just plug and play?

H7 LED bulb not fitting
H7 LED bulb fitting issue. I recently bought a Skoda Octavia and have been doing little interior and exterior upgrades to the car. The most recent was replacing the halogen H7 bulbs to LED H7 bulbs. I purchased the Novsight LED lights bulbs after been told it would fit my car. Since receiving the bulbs I haven't been able to install them. The tab on the new LED bulbs doesn't slot into the groove that the halogen bulb did. I have bought adapters off Amazon that I thought would solve the issue but I'm still none the wiser. It's probably something really simple that I'm missing but I was wondering could someone "shed some light" on the issue and maybe tell me what I'm doing wrong?
