  1. In queueing traffic, when the car in front of me shuffles forward a bit even though the queue isn't moving, it really annoys me that the radar detects this and starts the engine again. Especially if we are queueing down a hill so don't need the engine, maybe eventually for brake n steering servo top ups. It can even happen if I'm first car at the lights and traffic driving by triggers it. I don't want to turn the radar off completely because of its safety features etc. I end up pressing the s/s overide button to keep the engine running, not so great for the environment. I'm happy with the engine restarting when I want it to, by pushing the clutch in, or pressing the accelerator, or rolling quickly enough for it to decide its time. But being started by the radar when I'm not about to go anywhere is wasteful and irritating, and I'm wondering what is this doing to the life of my starter motor, battery and engine in general, and my nerves. My 2019 Octavia 1.5 TSI has stop/start and the multi function radar doodad at the front. Any ideas? Has this topic been covered before?
  2. How do you do, from Sheffield. I'm here to ask a technical question in the other forum bit shortly. In 2020 after 14 years of bringing up kids that far, we replaced our beloved well used grubby inside and out, somewhat smokey old 1.9 diesel Octavia estate with a 1 year old petrol 1.5 TSI, (and as a lockdown car only driven by the dealer it'd only done 3500 miles!). Such a smooth and quiet and bonkersly efficient whaftomatic (it's not an automatic, i just like that as a description of the driving experience) car, and bluetooth too. Now one of the grubby kids is ready to learn to drive, so Baby Skoda will be delivered in a few days, a Citigo. Top tip for mounting your phone so you can use a popular phone navigating app: Put a blob of blutack on the top of your phone, then at the bottom right corner of your windscreen stand your phone on the dash, lean it against the windscreen, then firmly press so the blutack sticks to the windscreen and the phone squishes into the spongey dash. Simples.
