  1. Finally changed the crank position sensor: use a small ratchet and 4mm 3inch “ball ended” (essential!). Car seems to be ok now. Many Thanks for the advice.
  2. Thank you for all the replies. Got correct oil from dealers in the end. Was 75w 80. Slippage ok for a day or two now back. RAC scanned and got PO726 code. So I guess could be crank position sensor or clutch pack. Have been advised to drive short distances and if slippage gets worse it’s clutch packs, or if intermittent or fails completely then sensor. Heard sensor is in a tough place to get to (for a change lol). …Oil was changed after I did the chain as it stretched. 2.5 years ago. RAC chap looked at oil I changed and said it was dark but not too bad.
  3. Hi, I am having an issue finding the exact oil I need for my Fabia 2 gearbox. I have been told 3 different oils so far. It is a DSG 1.2 tsi auto, 2010. Petrol. Getting slippage and need to change oil first to see if that’s the problem 🤞 Any help would be appreciated…
  4. Hi there, I cannot locate the adjuster nut in cabin for Fabia mark II. Tried removing plastic around arm rest and can’t see where it terminates.
  5. Well, tried a few things and weirdly putting in Redex injector cleaner practically stopped all issues. ESP light has come on once since post. Am wondering if dodgy injector was throwing issues at OBC.
  6. The ESP light comes on randomly, causes some lose of power (limp mode?). After 5 or so illuminations (cancel after restart) the engine warning light comes on and code p0068 and p0068p appear on ODB2. Ive changed the chain, chain tensioner, oil/ filter, air filter, both MAF sensors new. Have cleaned all ABS sensors. Hypothesising that as ESP light can come on when stationary and idle maybe belt tensioner is on way out and periodically slowing belt affecting the power steering pump etc? Can’t hear any squeals from it though. Wondered if anyone else had this problem?
  7. Right...the cheap OBD scam kept saying p0068 and p00068P. Now I know why... There seem to be 2 boost sensors: one in air intake and on clipped into back of engine. Bought 2 (GSF £30 each) and all problems seem to have gone away! Result! Massive thank you to everyone for ace input and knowledge 👍
  8. Thank you for all the help. Managed to get it properly scanned (not an OBd2) and it said air intake problem (I did wonder if a MAF issue at one point). I’ve bought a new pressure sensor (as not called MAF on Fabia apparently) and air filter as never changed. Engine light back on, so now thinking there is another identical sensor on back of engine, will swap around and see what happens...
  9. Thanks for replies 👍 Am thinking it’s the mechatronic unit, so will drop oil and measure to see if any loss. I find it hard to believe that the mechatronic unit can only be coded to one car. What happens if it’s destroyed in a crash, then the cars a write off I assume?
  10. Hi there, I changed the chain on my Fabia a few months ago. There has always been a P0068 code I couldn’t fix. Recently I drove the car and the D numbers started flashing and the gears jumped into D1 the 7 the 4 then 5 rapidly and the engine definitely revved loudly. Car was a bit jerky as I drove home very slowly. Car starts, goes through gears parked. Will engage in all gears. It is 2010 and dsg oil never changed 72k on clock. Thought I’d change gearbox oil first, finally think I’ve found a fill plug ontop on gearbox with small plastic cover on it; looks like it’s a tube and syringe job to get 1.7litres back in. Just wondered if anyone had any advice please as Skoda told me the oil is lifetime (but says change every 40k). They also told me Skoda engine chains never break and they hadn’t heard any issues with them, which is clearly untrue.
