Does this wheel and tyre (eBay listing) look safe?
Fantastic tip there, to take photos of the alloys before having a tyre fitted. I think one of my alloys on a previous car was the worse for wear after getting a new tyre fitted, but I didn't have any proof, and couldn't quite trust my memory... Will know how to prepare for this possibility next time. Thanks, I'll check out the prices of all my local outfits and will go with the cheapest fitted. I'm half tempted to get a new set of all-seasons for all of the wheels, as the tyres currently are mismatched, though prices will dictate whether this is possible or not!

Ordering a 17" Stratos wheel for MKIII Superb: which size is standard?
I just wanted to report back my findings. I emailed Caffynscarparts for a quote using both of the above codes. "I can confirm the rim fitted at factory was 3V0601025C 8Z8 £543.60 inc vat The bare accessory version is 3V0071497D 8Z8 £225.00 inc vat Please note the accessory option will come from Skoda CZ and take at least 2 weeks" What a difference in price!!! Can you tell which I've gone for?! Thanks again for your help. What a brilliant forum.

Does this wheel and tyre (eBay listing) look safe?
Thanks, I think I've decided to buy a new wheel, and get a new tyre fitted - seems the safest option, really. Interestingly a Skoda shop I've emailed said that they can't ship with a tyre fitted, as they aren't insured to do so. Do you know if regular garages can usually fit tyres to wheels, or is it only tyre fitting outfits that do so?

Superb MkIII hatchback wheel kit
Hello! Does anyone know if you can buy the wheel change tool kit, without the spare wheel, please? And would anyone happen to know what the product code would be? (Not sure if wheel size makes a difference here, but mine are 17"). Thank you

Does this wheel and tyre (eBay listing) look safe?
Thank you for taking a look. So it might be a bit of a gamble buying it then, if I'll only really be able to tell in person if those marks are dirt, or if there are cracks hiding. I'm surprised how few of these wheels are available on the used market! I guess I'll call Skoda still and ask for a quote on a new wheel (on the other thread someone was very helpful in providing a couple of parts numbers), and weigh up my options. Spending a few hundred £ just on the wheel seems so expensive (and then the tyre and fitting kit on top!), but I guess it's a one off cost for the price of safety and the convenience of having a full size spare.

Does this wheel and tyre (eBay listing) look safe?
Hello! I'm hunting high and low for a used, and therefore affordable, 17" Stratos wheel which matches my current set on my MkIII Skoda Superb. There's nothing around other than a couple of listings by the same seller on ebay. One of which the tyre is perished. The other listing I can't decide if it looks too "used", and potentially unsafe, or whether it's just cosmetic? What do you think? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/285431091090?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=K15jswdbTBO&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=s6yyomumth2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=SMS

Ordering a 17" Stratos wheel for MKIII Superb: which size is standard?
Perfect, thank you, I'll have a search of the forums! 🙂 Last question before I go: Using the two product codes I managed to find a single listing for the wheel I need, on eBay, at a very good price compared to new. If it's not too much to ask, please could you give your opinion on the wheel / tyre: do these look fit for use, or are they too worn, do you think, please? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/285431091090?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=K15jswdbTBO&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=s6yyomumth2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=SMS

Ordering a 17" Stratos wheel for MKIII Superb: which size is standard?
Hmmm that makes me wonder whether a partially inflated tyre would fare okay (compared to a flat tyre) longer term... It's encouraging that your flat was fine after more than a year. Alternatively, I could perhaps find a way to raise the floor around the fully inflated tyre so that heavy loads don't press down on it.

Ordering a 17" Stratos wheel for MKIII Superb: which size is standard?
Interesting, so I could potentially contact Skoda.co.uk and ask them for a quote on both part numbers to see which they can supply cheaper? Maybe a silly question, but from your screen shot above, would it be the second product (3V0601025C 8Z8 Diamond silver STRATOS) which is the equivalent to 3V0071497D 8Z8? And the dimensions are still 7Jx17 ET40, like the line above? I did look on eBay a while back, as these are so expensive new, but I couldn't find anything other than complete sets. Perhaps I had the wrong search terms though; would I be better looking specifically for "7Jx17 ET40 5/112 57.1" I wonder? I'm so new to this! My old car was basic in comparison, but at least it came with a full size spare wheel!

Ordering a 17" Stratos wheel for MKIII Superb: which size is standard?
Thanks for your reply and your suggestions. Would fitting a wheel of a slightly different width to the other 3 wheels affect safety or handling at all, would you know please? I was thinking that if my spare wheel / tyre matched the set already on the car, that if I get a puncture and I need to change the wheel, i.e. whilst away on holiday, or / and when garages are closed, I could change to the spare and keep driving on it indefinitely with no impending need to switch it back to the original. Whereas perhaps I would still need to change it over if the width was slightly different - I'm unsure of this? I don't think I would mind the carpet being raised a small amount if it doesn't impact significantly on boot capacity.

Also, does anyone know where to find a price list please? The accessories pdf leaflets lack any pricing details.

Ordering a 17" Stratos wheel for MKIII Superb: which size is standard?
Hello! I want to buy a spare wheel, which is full size (space saver wheels seem quite impractical to me.) I know that my current wheels are 17" Stratos. However, when I look at the parts and accessories pdf leaflets on the Skoda websites, I've found two slightly different variants: 7.0J x 17" ET40 for 215/55 R17 tyres. 6.5J x 17" ET 41 for 215/55 R17 tyres. I'm a tad confused. Without taking off one of my wheels, to check which size I have, does anyone know which type is most likely factory fitted on the MKIII Skoda Superb 2017 hatchbacks, please? I'd like to avoid having to take a wheel off to check, and I wasn't successful with my attempt to take a photo from behind the wheel. (Also the product code for each is the same, which seems odd to me? Stratos 3V0 071 497D 8Z8) Thanks for your time.

Going to view my first Skoda (Superb): any tips please?
Thanks so much for the useful tips, every body - very much appreciated, and reassuring. I went to test drive it today with a friend who has a lot of experience driving different company cars. I bought it! It drives incredibly smooth, and is a bit of a spaceship compared to my old car. Everything seems high quality, and everything I could test work fine. All four tyres look pretty new. I questioned the cambelt and they gave me money off to have it changed at my local garage (£350, which might be less than my garage will charge, but unfortunately they wouldnt budge; if it came to any more, they said I'd be welcome to return to them and have it done there. As it would entail another 4 hour round trip though, I don't think I'll bother!) They are also shipping a replacement key hole cover to me from the driver's door handle, as it was missing. For those thinking that I've jumped in, I've actually been looking for a replacement car for months now, but nothing was showing up in my budget and vicinity, which matched the models in my list (based on boot size, leg room, euro ncap safety rating, service history, mileage.) In truth I -was- getting a bit desperate, as the air con in my old car had completely broken and required a new motor box, which wouldn't have been economical to replace at a quoted £1000. And I didn't want to risk long drives to visit family in the old car, as I didn't trust it would get us there! But yes, luckily the new Skoda has ticked all the boxes, and the 2 hour drive back in it cemented how nice it is to drive. Fingers crossed for some good years of motoring ahead in it.

Thanks so much, I'll try and remember to check all of this; I guess if it's been done it should show on the service papers.

Going to view my first Skoda (Superb): any tips please?
Thank you! I thought it looked pretty decent too, from the photos. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly. Yes, it would be a definite upgrade from the current car, it'll make such a change not being so cramped, and being able to put the pushchair in at the same time as the shopping! Myself not being mechanically minded, do you have any thoughts on whether it's reasonable to request a fresh MOT as part of the deal (the current one runs until February '24), to rule out anything amiss? And if the cambelt is outstanding, to request that too, before exchanging?

Going to view my first Skoda (Superb): any tips please?
Good question, it doesn't specify on the advert, and there are no close-ups of the tyres in the photos. Would it be a deal breaker if it has 18" or 19" tyres? Or just a reason to bear in mind if the ride seems uncomfortable?

Going to view my first Skoda (Superb): any tips please?
That's ever so helpful, thank you! If the advert states that it has a previously full Skoda history, and it's also just been serviced by them, I'd take that to imply that the cambelt will have been changed, but I'll obviously check and request they do it if not. Is it normal and ok / expected, to ask for them to put on a fresh MOT, and fix any advisories? And presumably, can I only ask all of this after I have had the test drive, thus possibly necessitating me having to go home and return at a later date? It's not at a Skoda dealership, no. The advert doesn't mention a warranty even, but they do have positive feedback on Autotrader. I've never driven a similar car, no, only my tiny one, so I'm going in a bit blind. There's no video tour available, just photos. I'll definitely pay for the online check - thanks for the recommendation!

Not sure how to edit, but in case it's relevant it has done just under 65k miles, and is a 1.4 TSI ACT SE petrol model.

Going to view my first Skoda (Superb): any tips please?
Hello all! I'm going to view a 2017 Skoda Superb this weekend, at a dealers a couple of hours drive away. It's retailing at just under 12k, and has been serviced at the dealers. It's had 2 owners, with a 'Previously full Skoda history and just serviced by us in preparation of the sale. MOT to 22nd February 2024'. Checking the MOT history online, the only advisory is a worn tyre needing replacement soon. I'll be a cash buyer, and will be part exchanging my decripit 15 year old current car for an agreed £600/700, with faults described over the phone. It's tricky for me to get the dealers, arranging child care for a little one at home; if I could part exchange and drive away on the same day that would be easiest, to prevent a return trip, but I'm unsure if that's the wisest. Please can you advise what I should be looking for / what would be reasonable to negotiate for? Also, I've only ever owned my current car, and am not sure how the part exchange process works, or how to pay on the day (bank transfer?) / sort new insurance (transfer to new vehicle via current insurer on the day, or buy temporary insurance?) etc. Any tips much appreciated! Thanks, Amber
