  1. Thanks a lot everyone for your kind help! It has been appriciated a lot... You may not realise this (as it hasn't been told enough) but for you to be here and reply messages of some strangers might make their day and help them out a lot which they would never get otherwise. I would like to thank each and everyone of you from the buttom of my heart for being here and replying to us as some of us are very unfortunate not to get to learn any of these car knowledge from our families, friends etc. Trying to watch some videos on Youtube to learn some life skills are too tiring. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
  2. Thanks @toot! I cannot thank enough for all of you for the anwers. I don't have any invoice for the oil to know what it was used. The car was stopped an hour ago and almost (not entirely) flat. So, all of the suggestions are pointing out two likely issues; 1- it is time to change the oil as a wrong one might have been used. 2- It is time to change the cambelt. Is it wise to book initially for an oil change and inspection service? There are three different category for this though; Oil and Inspection Service (Oil and Inspection Service - Oil and filter change with vehicle inspection.) Oil and Inspection Service with Pollen Filter (Oil and Inspection Service with Pollen Filter - Oil and filter change, vehicle inspection and Pollen Filter change. Recommended every year or 10,000 miles.) Oil and Inspection Service with Extended Scope (Full inspection Service with Oil Change - Oil and filter change with extended vehicle inspection. Recommended every 2 years or 20,000 miles.) Shall just book for one of these options then see where it takes me? Regards,
  3. @TheClient This is the engine oil level (sorry for the quality of the pictures). I am just trying to book a service in the main dealership and there are different options for me to select. Which ones that you suggest for me to choose? (never been to a service/garage before 😓) Booking for "Initial Diagnostic Fee - First 30 mins diagnosis" option would be enough for them to direct me for the right solutions? Thanks,
  4. The MOT history is as the following; 28/05/2021 - 15859 miles - Pass 17/06/2022 - 17413 miles - Pass 12/06/2023 - 18738 miles - Pass As it seems like the previous owner wasn't also using it too much (like me). I just talked to the dealership and they told me that they don't know why the date is overthere as the one of the mechanics could have written it while making some checks. What would be your suggestions for me to do? I am going a long business trip and be back in October. It would make sense for me to take the car to a Skoda service for a full inspection/service when I am back as it will be in the 6 monthstimeframe 😓
  5. Thanks @TheClientfor your reply, I bought the car 6 weeks ago without any experience and knowledge of cars from a dealer without seeing it (I know that it sounds stupid and crazy but I didn't have any other options) therefore I don't have any answers to your questions. I can try to ask them to the dealer but I am not sure if I can get any answers for them since they think that the sale is alreay closed for them. HPI came out clear and the car had 3 keys (no body knows why) and I was just so tired of looking around and just purchased it. Do you think that something is fishy or sounding not right? 😕
  6. Thanks @toot, I got in touch with the Skoda customer service and the last record that they have was on 05/06/2019 when the mileage was 13638... It now has 19255 mileage but I only did 55 miles. I know that it might not be the my best buy so far but I really like the car and would like to use it for many years. @PetrolDave here is the video as you suggested but had to upload it somewhere as it wasn't possible to upload it here due to the max size restrictions. https://streamable.com/9smxxg There are no lights in my dasboard but as I know that there might be multiple reasons for this noisy state of the engine, what would be your suggestions for me to do? Shall I take it to the service asap? If yes then what should I tell them? Thanks...
  7. Hi @toot, Thanks for your reply. This is a 2018 Octavia 1,5 SE TSI and the mileage is19260. I bought it from a dealer (company) and they own a garage. Unfurtunately I don't have the service history as I was told that they are digital and can be seen after going to the service which I couldn't have found any time yet to do so. @PetrolDave I will do that when the rain stops, thanks @DGWThanks a lot for checking and informing before me, appriciated a lot! 🙏
  8. Hi everyone, I am so sorry for bothering you for such a worry but I have no one to turn to ask such a question since I am new to the cars and don't have a father figure or friend circle around to consult. I recently bought my first car and was wondering if the engine noise is normal. This is a petrol Skoda Octavia but the engine sounds a bit noisy IMO. What do you think? Shall I worry about it and take it to the service? If this is your advice then what should I tell them to look into? Thanks a lot in advance your help is approcated a lot! 9. Thanks a lot for the all answers and help again. It seems like I mistakenly assumed that increasing the rolling diameter only would result the speedometer misguiding you a little bit and it can somehow be fixed in a garage or something. @Paws4Thot, @tootand @MarkyG82 thanks a lot againfor the detailed explanations.
  10. Thanks a lot for your help and advice. Appriciated a lot! I haven't got the car yet as it will be transferred on Monday but I will be using the current tires as long as they are safe to do so as @tootsuggested of course and then might replace them. I watched the videos alongside a ton of other videos and I was wondering if my logic is (partly) correct. The stock tires are 205/55R16 and as far as I understand from the descriptions the tire sidewall height is (205 mm x 55% ) 112,7 mm whereas for 255/50/R18 is 112,5 mm (255 mm x 50%). Both of these numbers look so close and I was wondering if their shock absorbency levels are also similar therefore their pot hole resistances (behaviors towards the potholes). I think that the only way to see it to try and experience it... (might be a costly experiment though )
  11. Hi everyone, I hope that you are all well. I just boughy my first ever car (SKODA Octavia 1.5 TSI ACT SE DSG Euro 6 (s/s) 5dr) today so please bear with me The car has 16' alloy wheels and one of my friend who drives a Superb insisting (he is just trying to help me) for me to change the rims to 17' but I really like the look of 18'. I saw it on another 2015 Octavia and fall in love. I have been watching videos to understand the pros and cons of increasing the sizes of the rims but couldn't come a conclusion. Would the comfort and performance changes be drastic? Thanks a lot for your help in advance!
