  1. Swapped my ECU but need my cruise control activating, anyone near Pontefract with know how to do this? Thanks - Rich
  2. Your probably safe given the limit plus acpo guidelines plus 1mph that that particular force usually allows combined with the few mph your speedo is likely to be out. Prosecutions are generally the route taken when you exceed any limit by 27mph with a mandatory ban (through court) if you exceed the limit by 30mph so you wont be prosecuted. Most camera vans now operate allowing quite a large margin in excess of the signed limit, with the lazer set to record speeds over 58 or 60mph in a 50 limit. Depends how skint the government is! The 'I wasn't drivin' argument will see you end up in court with a real good photo of you behind the wheel, you will still get the points but generally fines in court start about £120 to deter people arguin the tickets. - Good Luck, I passed one on the A1 at 109mph n didn't get a ticket, guess he wa making a cuppa!
  3. I got 8 x 18 Inovit DTM's, wi 215x35 tyres on, no change in performance, steering effort, handling etc infact with avon zz3's it handles far better than the 17 spiders did with bridgestones. The DTM's are also lighter than the std spiders. Cost me less than £800 for a set of 5 with Avons.
  4. AET Turbo's Normanton, Nr Wakefield. Excellent custom remaps.
  5. it is worth checking the small hose that connect to the underside of the inlet manifold, this is a take off fronm the crank breather but recently i have sortted 3 octy's with the same problem where this hose has split. This isn't always picked up on the VAG software, however the snap on diagnostic picks up an emmision control fault. Easy to check, run the engine and push the hoses about at the back of the dipstick, you can hear it 'hissin' if its split. Also as above, but i would have expected VAG software to pick up a fault if the secondary air pump was playing up.
  6. If your thinking of fitting the 225 it would be cheaper to add some bolt on parts and have a custom map especially if your having to pay for a garage to do the messing about at £50 p/h labour!
  7. My engines coming out in a month or so and will be sold complete only done 50K and had the timing belt changed recently - pitty your in Dublin! These tend to sell for £800 up but still a lot less than a new one.
  8. Use parcel2go.com, up to 30kg is about £8.50 and your std suspension weighs less than 30kg. They collect it from your door and that price is for 2-4 day delivery which more often arrives within 2 days - Rich
  9. I got Avon ZZ3's on my VRS Hatch and there the best yet with good grip and dont wear out too quick, last ones I had were bridgestones and they didnt last too long. I paid 360 delivered for 5 but they're 18" cos I replaced the 17's. Cost £40 to have the 5 fitted at KwiK Fit.
  10. Solid is def the right choice. Dual mass is the worst modern invention on any car!
  11. Torque for acceleration, they spin like hell if mapped right n torque steer, std clutch dissintegrates and takes out the bearing housing on your gearbox, they'll do quarter mile in about 14seconds, mine tops out at 160 on a good day and 150-155 on a bad day. Hell of a difference over std octy. Much over bolt on bits n a custom map and you need to consider upgrading the rods. Std mine had 140 at wheels it now has 205 (180/250 at crank). wont get cracking 0-60 times due to wheelspin but hopefully havin lsd fitted to mine to overcome this. The acceleration from 70-135 is excellent but this depends on how its tuned to produce torque. Its the torque that pushes you in the seat with acceleration.
  12. You need an allen key not sure if 6 or 7mm but a std allen key will fit if you aint got a 'socketed' one.
  13. Thanks, it was their link i lost! I'm getting too old for this tintaweb thingy!
  14. I use parcel2go for all my stuff including international, a single alloy will cost you about £8 (up to 30kg) anywhere in uk. Never once had a problem after in excess of 100 parcels.
  15. I ran 18psi through my K03, theyre good for about 5000 miles hard thrash at that. When i removed mine it was showing signs of starting to fail with a lot of play in the shaft. My HP peaks at around 252 (crank) and torque max's at 266 at about 3000rpm. would trade some max torque to get more torque up the revs. However I'm going for uprated internals, bigger turbo and nos so no point worrying bout it at the moment. with bigger turbo I spose i wont have much below the 3500rpm mark, but the nos will kick in at 2000rpm so a bit of a trade. Before anyone comments on driveability, its my spare car and I just want to see how far i can go before it goes - bang!
