  1. For the electrical drain it could be a stuck relay on the rear window heater. That will flatten a battery quickly.
  2. 240K miles in my Octavia II in 8 years, now 85K miles in my Superb in 3 years. I am hoping to beat the mileage I got in the Octavia.
  3. 45 - 50mpg is average in mine, Best achieved was 56 mpg. However I preferred the non-greenline version of the Superb.
  4. Had my rear quarterlight broken so the vandal could access the boot, but they didn't manage to steal anything. Autoglass came out and covered it in clingfilm because they didn'y carry stock for quarterlights. Two days later they came back but had the wrong glass (the box lied), Two days after that they came back with the right glass. The clingfilm was ok at stopping the weather but nothing else.
  5. I do have a spare headlamp assembly, someone reversed into it and broke the mounting clips. It was working electically though, and still has the 2 modules underneath it.
  6. Check the 3 rubber covers that you need to remove to get the bulbs. One of the covers on mine wasn't fitted and water got into headlight killing the electronics within. That gave me the same error. I needed a complete headlamp replacement to fix it.
  7. I have had the same problem, and turned the handle to the 10-11 o'clock position to fix it.
  8. When I set my Nokia into Remote SIM mode and connect it via bluetooth then the SMS messages come up on the columbus, and not on the phone. I don't think you can get emails to come up on the head unit though.
  9. Very few problems with my previous car (Octavia mk1 - 250K miles) and my Superb (40K miles). I had a lot more problems with my BMW and Land Rover (discovery) then the Skoda's. On the superb I have had the following Headlamp replacement due to missing seal letting in water - There are 3 per headlight, large, round and made of rubber. Indicator stalk replaced due to main beam indicator not coming on when the main beam was on. And that's it.
  10. I had a 1.9TDI Octavia Mk1 that had 240K on the clock after 8 years, which was still running fine. The turbo on mine had started making a whistling noise, so it would have needed replacing sooner or later.
  11. I thought the same for replacing the headlights, but no the bumper has to come off first. The headlight was £430, and then £80 labour as well. The garage moved all the bulbs over, so I didn't have to pay for them again, but I now have a spare set of electronics for the Xenon bulb.
  12. Unfortunately Ebay does not have the correct part listed, and to be honest I didn't relish taking the front bumper off the car to fit it. The Superb Elegance has the Bi-Xenon lamps with AFS and the integrated headlight washers, which made it worthwhile to claim on the insurance.
  13. I have had a nasty shock as someone has pushed in the drivers side headlight cluster breaking all three mounting brackets but leaving the glass intact. Got the headlight replaced, but when I tried to claim it back on insurance it was claimed that they could have done the work £80 cheaper so I had to pay the excess plus £80. I had the work done at the local dealer because the vehicle is still under warranty. All fixed now, but I am irritated by the whole episode. http://s1219.photobucket.com/albums/dd426/Dustpuppy107/Car%20Photos/Car%20Headlighight/
