My Karoq is a 18 plate car so I figured it was time to replace the cambelt in line with previous guidelines of 5 years.
I booked the car into my local garage but had a call saying that they could not complete the work as a special 'tool' costing £2,000 was required to electronically tension the belt.
I researched on-line and saw horror stories of £800 - £1,200 for replacements ... but what do you do? it's a no win situation.
Luckily I found out that a garage not too far away was authorised to carry out Skoda maintenance work ..... Got them thro' Skoda.UK website.
Called them this morning to get a quote and was given some extraordinary news.
On my Karoq ( and I stress on my engine number starting DADA) , SKODA HAVE REVISED REPLACEMENT GUIDELINES TO ... UP TO 15 YEARS .... YES NOT TYPO, 15 YEARS OR 180,000 MILES.
Understandably, the garage stressed it was a guideline and that personally would look to replace a while before as any new cambelt fitted by them carried a 3 year g/tee so a replacement at say 10 years would cover you until
13 years and hopefully way beyond.
I hope that Iv'e made your day! I certainly feel good about choosing my Skoda.
