Thank you very much . I've just cancelled the job with my mechanic. Can I ask you when do you think the timing belt might need replaced in my case ? I can't seem to find a definite answer and was erring on the side of caution . I much appreciate your help .

Thank you kindly once again . I will check this with him . I plan on keeping the car for as long as I can do it will be worth it for peace of mind . It's the Sel e-tec saloon and really like it a lot .

Thank you for replying . Yes I have read up on it and got info from this forum . My mechanic told me that the water pump would have to be removed to set the timing so its best to change it for a new one at same time . He also quoted £850 + vat to buy and fit them and I was wondering if this price is a fair one .

Does anyone know approximate cost of the timing belt and water pump kits for a mk4 Skoda Octavia 1.5 sel e-tec dsg , please . My car has just over 90000 miles and is 4 1/2 years old and I'm going to have these parts replaced very soon hopefully.
