Strange (fast) ticking noise from bottom of my 1,8T
XP3NNY replied to norsko's topic in Skoda Superb Mk I (2001-2008)
I have something similar to what you're describing. When I start my car the revs goes to 1200rpm and there's the same sound as you're describing. If I switch off aircon it almost goes away and once the engine is warm/hot it's normal. TBH this is happening since I've remaped my car .... is your one remaped too? -
I cleaned my one last week and used Vanish carpet cleaner foam ... it seems to work fine!
-
Partly agree. The remap will have something to do with it, but I don't drive my car irrationally so I blame a lot on the previous owner My friend has got a Passat 51 plate with the same engine and his clutch went of at 105k

Glovebox Rattle Doing My Tits In!
XP3NNY replied to caledonia112's topic in Skoda Superb Mk I (2001-2008)
I have the same problem plus some rattle from the center of the dash too. One guy in Czech had a same issue, he took it to the skoda dealer and they told him that it's a known 'wear' and they would have to remove all of the dashboard and fix some bearing which would cost £££ -
Guy in the service said it's going to be the original clutch and flywheel which I didn't really believe, but it's good to know that it's true

What is the name of the solid blue colour?
XP3NNY replied to veloplus's topic in Skoda Superb Mk I (2001-2008)
Isn't it Nightfire blue? -
I thought that DX(MFD) is a straight swap for the first superb models. I think the facelift version fits MFD2, but I may be wrong ...

Correct! 1.8T with remap to 194bhp. Now I must return to Mr Clutch every 5k miles to get the clutch checked. The warranty is 20k (or 2years) so it's worth doing. Also I'll get some peace of mind

I was searching for this some time ago, but didn't find anything which I would be happy with. At the end I bought a JVC double din which fits in perfectly Perhaps look at the german eBay

Picked up my car this evening and the change is rather pleasant. Clutch feels much more solid, however very easy to press. No burning smell anymore
-
I've done over 30k miles with it, but overall it's on 105k at the moment ... 1.8T
-
And it is! Need a flywheel to so it's £729.99 .... i'm f****
-
I really hope that's not the case :-) Price was cheapest I could find £310 inc.VAT with 2 years / 20k miles warranty.

I went to Mr Clutch last night and when they tested my clutch it started to really burn and smoke. It's in today for a replacement. They don't know if the flywheel will need changing until they remove gearbox etc.
-
I phoned a couple of companies and the range of quotes is unbelievable ... Skoda ... £660 VW .. £550ish Local garage ... £360+vat Those prices are for clutch only. Flywheel would be another £400 on top of that ...
-
It was recommended by my friend to change flywheel together with cluch, but again I don't know much about these things. How much did it cost you?
-
That's the word I was looking for ... slipping Also my clutch kicks in completely at the top which I assume is another sign that it needs replacing ...

Hi guys, Since Christmas I have this weird, almost like burning, smell coming out of my engine bay. It's coming out of something next to the turbo (clutch?). Also sometimes I when I release the clutch and accelerate then it only builds the revs, then they drop and then it starts accelerating. I think it could be clutch ... can anyone confirm that? If it is clutch, do you know how much it is to replace it? Thanks, David

My mate's got Passat on 51 plate and the rear ashtray is different.
-
Thanks for the help guys. I'm not that 'heavy foot' drive, but since I had my car re-mapped it's a bit 'uncontrollable' when accelerating. 1st gear is nightmare regardless road, 2nd gear is much better but still spins through and on the wet road it spins through the 3rd gear when accelerating hard. Temporary fix for this is to get one person on the passenger seat, just to add a bit of weight :-) No doubt that Skoda / VW done this car for exact 150bhp as anything above it's not so safe.

Hi guys, This may be a silly questions for some of you, but I'm not that technical when it comes to car so any help will be appreciated. I have 02 Superb 1.8T without traction control and I'd like to get one retro fitted if possible. I never felt that I need it, but since I had my car re-mapped I would do with TC. Do you know if it is possible to retro-fit TC and if it is, what is the cost? Thanks

If it's not good for electronics I must be lucky that it's still working What's the OEM brand name / product name? Thanks

I had a same problem about a year ago. I used WD40 (not sure if it's the right thing to use?) and never happend again.

I've never seen 48mpg on my maxidot . The best I've ever done was 40.1mpg on an hour journey @ around 50mph ... and that was one off
