  1. Thanks for your input Prezafab, appreciated. As I only found out about this today, I may still be 'emotional' or 'kneejerk' about the situation. You may well be right and i should maintain a sense of perspective and just be happy that they are covering it under warranty. I do love the car and at the risk of tempting fate, mechanically it is a dream. I'm interested in when you say 'you don't have the option to reject a used car now' . I wasn't aware of this and wonder if this is actually an accepted point of consumer law. The links below seem to imply that one would still be protected. even after the 30 day no quibble. https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/tips-advice/34744/rejecting-new-or-used-car-your-car-consumer-rights-explained and especially below (item 9.19 seems to cover my situation) https://www.businesscompanion.info/focus/car-traders-and-consumer-law/part-b-your-obligations-under-consumer-rights-act-2015-cra I am deliberately not going to respond to the dealer just yet until I have regained perspective and also covered all my bases, including knowing if I have consumer protection, or not, which I still suspect I do but hope a / some members here have knowledge in this field and can confirm either way. Thanks again 👍 ATB / Bazza
  2. Hi all, I was hoping to not have to revisit this thread again for a while, but I’m sorry to say the sunroof saga continues for me. Last week I noticed a smell in the car and traced it to a soggy (drenched) front passenger footwell. The optimistic part of me naively assumed it couldn’t be the sunroof again after the extensive sealing repairs already recently carried out and I expected it to be a blocked condense drain, or leaves in the drain tray for the front windscreen, door seal etc. Nope! The car has been with the dealers for a week now and they have just informed me it is the main seal for the sunroof, the one between the base of the cassette and the car. Deep Joy ! They say, and I quote, “Although seals are generally excluded under the Warranty policy, as a dealership we are covering the cost of this extensive repair given the previous history.” So now I find myself in a quandary as to how I feel about taking this forward. In the two and a half months I have owned the car I am surprised at how much I have already grown to love it, the driving experience, the comfort, the spec, the quirky styling etc. However, as is born out by this ever-growing thread, it seems once a soggy Yeti owner, the comment “I’m dry for now” seems to be an accepted fate, for Panoramic roof owners at least. The reason I have come back to this thread (apart from adding my experience so that potential future owners doing their research when weighing up their options on a future purchase are better informed) is to ask you for your advice on where I stand with my consumer rights if I decide my faith is completely lost in the vehicle and I wish to consider taking my initial investment and putting it into another vehicle, this time one without a sunroof. If I did change vehicles, sadly It wouldn’t be another Yeti as they are a Hyundai main dealer offering a selection of different manufacturer second hand vehicles sourced from trade ins, which is how I came across mine (perhaps now I know why it was traded in). Considering that I bought the car second week of September and my no quibble 30-day money back period has passed, do I have a leg to stand on if I decide to demand a replacement vehicle. Or am I obliged to have to allow the dealer the opportunity to repair the issues indefinitely ? I will say that my faith isn’t lost in the dealer as they have been completely professional and helpful so far and I do really want to keep my Yeti, best car I have ever owned. Hopefully some of you may be able to reassure that after extensive repairs you have been watertight for a decent / sensible amount of time, but it does appear from this thread that this may not be the case. Thanks all for reading this and I really do appreciate any advice, train of thought you may be able to give me before I respond to the dealers. ATB / Bazza

  4. I clocked up over 400 motorway miles at the weekend and got to know my built in Satnav a lot better, well enough to now close out my own questions in the post directly above. I tried editing the post above rather than bump this thread, but as the post was raised before I earned editing rights, the board software won't let me edit it. I can confirm that on the Amundsen II unit.... The other screen labelled D in the above picture (the lane indicator) does indeed show up but it's fairly random. Still, I was pleasantly suprised to see the feature does actually work, even if it isn't very consistent. The maxidot display does only show the compass direction as a N, NE, E etc. and it also includes the road / motorway name you are on, but that is all. Might be useful to some but for me, this is close to useless. I have read many posts here which suggest that the built in Satnav soon starts to show its limitations compared to Google maps, Waze etc. and having now put it through its paces, I do agree. Despite its limitations however, if the display was mirrored properly in the maxidot, it would still be almost perfect, for me at least (I don’t want to have to hook up my phone every time). I’m still very glad I have it and will use it mainly for shorter journeys, but for motorways and night driving (risky when doing 70 at night and looking down at the screen) I will use a phone app. If anyone with an Amundsen II would be able to add some knowledge on my remaining query regarding the finger proximity sensor, I would really appreciate it and can close this thread out. Thanks all. ATB / Bazza
  5. Agreed. Not the first time I have read / heard this and makes complete sense, especially if the issue is partially blocked drainage hoses / routes or leaking joints, which my issue appears to have been. Not only am I able to park on quite a steepish slope most evenings (plenty of hills where I am) but the car is looking lovely and clean because of the amount of pressure washing & car washes it’s been getting. I also park it nose up as well as nose down, to test both front and rear drainage routes. I had a long journey over the weekend, roundtrip of 400 miles and it completely lashed down both trips there and back. Although I found the driving in such torrential rain extremely challenging (most sensible drivers were reduced to 40 mph on the motorway, visibility was so bad) I tried to look at it as a good real-life test, and there wasn’t a drop in the car, so I’m fairly re-assured for now the dealer has sorted the issue, time will tell (insert fingers crossed emoji here). If the dealer is to be believed; it was the more common culprit of the drain hoses, where they join on to the collection tray spigots. I say ‘if the dealer is to be believed’ because the aftercare sales guy said there was a crack which needed to be sealed, but when I spoke to the actual mechanic carrying out the work, he said that it was the hose joints onto the tray. I also asked for photos to be provided before they re-installed the headliner so that I had an audit trail in case of future issues. Pictures added below of my initial discovery of the leak and where it showed itself, and also from the dealer showing the joints. They sealed all four joints (red hoses to the front, blues to the rear) . They allowed 3 days (allegedly) for the Skoda specific sealant (allegedly) to cure properly before water testing again and then returning the vehicle. Do I come across as cynical in anyway 😁. To be fair the dealers have been really good, I am so very glad we didn't go for a private seller. The warranty does offer peace of mind. If there is an option to extend it I will most likely take it. Storm Ciarán tomorrow and Thursday should be a good test ! ATB / Bazza
  6. I had the infamous sunroof leak suprise me about a month into purchasing my Yeti (only a couple of months ago). Luckily I purchased from a dealer so it was repaired under the warranty. Doesn't change the fact I now have a fresh anxiety kick in every time it lashes down with rain. As soon as the rain stops I'm straight out to check if there is any ingress into the car. So far so good, looks like the dealer has sorted it for now at least, but I still expect the worse that it will return in some form (sods law just after the dealer warranty expires). If it does leak again while under waranty I have told the dealer I will be returning the vehicle and will exchange it for one without the sunroof. A real shame that on such a fantastic car, Skoda dropped the ball on the most fundamental aspect of a version fitted with a sunroof ie. it being watertight. I saved both the pdf's I found on this in case I ever need them, I have added them here, all credit to the original creators. Because of my lack of faith that the leak won't come back at some point after the warranty expires, I have watched many videos on removing headliners to get an idea of what is involved. Although there aren't many videos specific to Yetis, I found the Tiguan videos (of which there are many, also the Jetta) to be a fairly similar process, enough to reassure me at least that it isn't as daunting as I at first thought. Between reading the attached pdfs and watching the following videos it seems fairly straightforward to just unclip the Yeti's sunroof control panel and then unscrew / remove it if need be. I hope they give you an idea at least. From 1.16 in this one ATB / Bazza Skoda Yeti Sunroof.pdf Yeti_Panoramic_Roof_Leak.pdf
  7. Evening all, Rather than start a fresh topic, as this is still infotainment based I thought I would add it here. I am really appreciating the extra 'manoeuvre' screen in the Sat nav, its cetainly helping me a lot when in areas I don't know the roads. In the owners manual it mentions under 'Graphical driving recommendations' (clip attached below) that The 'Manoeuvre' screen also shows in the instrument cluster. The only screen I get in my maxidot is the one shown below N, NE, N etc. Is this all I should expect or is there a way of having the same 'manoeuvre' screen which shows on the Satnav, show in my maxidot (I appreciate the maxidot is a lot lower resolution and only black and white). There is another window that shows on the satnav screen, to the right of the Manoeuvre screen, (labelled D in the picture) which I assume lets you know the correct lane to be in when on a motorway, something I would find really useful. I have never seen this screen and can't seem to find any option of adding it. Would anyone be able to confirm if I should have this option or not please. Thanks for any guidance (pun not intended) you can give me. Cheers all / Baz.
  8. Hi Bexhillian, thanks so much for your input and for confirming that I am indeed a numpty 🙂. As you say, after pressing 'New Destination', on the window that then pops up (and presuming that the country is aleady set correctly), the next field underneath 'Country' is 'City'. Once you press 'City' , then on the next screen that pops up, the pstcd button is on the keyboard entry screen in the bottom left hand corner (no need to enter the actual city name). This has just made things so much easier, thanks again, much appreciated (although I feel a little silly for having missed it) ! 😎 Bazza
  9. Hi all, I am slowly getting to know all the features on my Yeti (2017 outdoor 1.2 Tsi Se L), of which there seem to be many, and I am really enjoying going through the wealth of info provided in this forum to bring me up to speed and fill in the blanks left out by the manual. Lately, I have been concentrating on trying to fully understand and utilise my infotainment system which, from the 'Yetipedia' section at the Yeti Owners Forum....... https://www.yetiownersclub.co.uk/threads/yetipedia-no1.2760/#post-30884 I appear to have the Amundsen II unit (pictures are attached further below).... I have recently updated the SatNav maps to the latest version and all seems to be working really well, as does Apple & Android car play etc. I have noticed two anomalies though and I was hoping someone may be able to give me some advice on the following. On reading through the manual and watching youtube posts, my understanding is there should be a feature (be it ever so small) where a proximity sensor is fitted to the head unit, which is born out in the Yetipedia pictures for the Amundsen II as you can see small pink lights shining through the bottom rail of the Amundsen II unit in their first picture, which I assume is an infra red bar type sensor (although the second Amundsen II picture in the Yetipedia post doesn't show the lights). On looking through the settings for my unit I do have a feature in 'Screen' settings showing 'animation when finger near screen', which is switched on / ticked. However it doesn't seem to be having any effect when my hand approaches / nears the screen. I have tried with the 'Navigation' screen and once the icon / options bar at the bottom of the navigation screen dissapears, the only way to bring it back up is to physically tap the screen. My assumption is the sensor bar is faulty and it is not exactly the end of the world if it is, but possibly being the last model Skoda made this may simply just not be an option fitted for this unit (although strange to still have the finger option still available in settings). If it simply is that the sensor bar has failed, then once the dust has settled from the works already carried out under warranty by my dealer (mentioned in my first hello / introduction post), I will take it up with them (even at risk of appearing a bit OCD 😄). I have read thorough many posts here regarding the SatNav options / operation and they mention there should be an option when entering a location to enter it purely via a postcode (although the button on screen is abbreviated to PSTCD). I simply cannot seem to find this in any of the different options when entering a location and was wondering if I am looking for something that isn't actually now there, due to it being the last model of 2017, or am I just being a numpty ? I have attached pictures of my infotainment unit here to hopefully assist. Do let me know if you need any more info. Many thanks in advance for your input and any assistance / advice you can offer me. ATB / Bazza
  10. G'day all, just a quick introduction & to say hi. Picked up my Yeti nearly two months ago, a 2017 1.2 tsi SE L Outdoor model and really love it, although have had some issues already with the sunroof leaking and a yellow LED which stays illuminated permanently on the windscreen heater / blower switch. Luckily I bought from a dealer who has now repaired the leak (hopefully, time will tell) and a complete replacement heater / blower switch bank is on order from Skoda. I have spent a good few hours reading many of your Yeti posts on here which have been a real mine of information for me, a great repository and wealth of info here and a lot more informative and specific to my model than the pdf manuals I managed to download. Thank you all for the time you have taken to build this great resource! Rather than remain a lurker, I would prefer to be in a position to post some of my own queries here if I can't find the answer, so glad to have joined up and thanks for having me. After my second post restriction, I will set up my signature so that you don't have to keep asking me what make / model I have 😎. Thanks all Bazza (aka BeePM)
