  1. Hi all - got a 1.9TDi 03 Octavia - all going OK but just recently the door open warning light has been misbehaving. When left for a while parked (an hour, say) if you get in and shut the door the warning light goes out but then when you start the engine the warning light comes back on again (along with a few others that are meant to) and doesn't go out whilst driving. Then when you come to switch off again the warning light won't go out for love nor money, even after getting out of the car. If you leave it for a bit as described above it'll go out if you open and close again but this is a bit of a faff. Now, I can live with a light staying on (it's slightly irritating of course) but I was wondering whether this could be a sign that something else is afoot? I have had a scan around and the same issue seems to happen elsewhere and replacing the door catch seems to be the main solution, but I'd rather not do that if it can be helped. I am assuming that one light on the dash isn't going to flat the battery either?! Any suggestions or is the above pretty much how it is? Cheers!
  2. Hmm, I'll try the rear demister thing, but I am pretty sure the last time I tried to use the heated mirrors was last winter when I would definitely have had the rear demister on too. By default my switch is usually on the "L" switch, as opposed to "L+R" or the heated mirror option so I don't think it's timed out... Thanks for ideas though!
  3. According to the diagram on VRStu's site its fuse number 38. Fabia-vrs.com - Fuse Panel Layout ps - fuse 38 is "electric mirrors" in the Haynes Manual - which I took to be the operation of the electric mirrors rather than their heating? They move around OK, just don't heat up.
  4. Make sure you've returned the control knob to the middle setting. The heating doesn't work otherwise. When the kn0b is turned to the heated mirrors setting it doesn't work, I'm not sure where else to have it turned to? Does the comfort model have heated mirrors then? Well, it has the switch for it, whether it has the innards that's what I'm trying to ascertain :-) has never worked since I bought it 2nd hand but the vendor said it had heated mirrors, I never checked though. Was hardly a deal breaker ;-)
  5. Got a 1.9 SDi Fabia Comfort that the heated mirrors don't work on. I guess it's not a critical feature but it irks me that they don't work, especially with winter coming... There's no mention of them at all in the Haynes manual - does anyone know which fuse (?), for instance, is responsible? Is it something that breaks easily? Any other wisdom? cheers
  6. ok, i've just had a fiddle around with it, and when you press TP the letters 'TP' don't appear on the display, it just flips to ClassicFM, then if you press on 1-6 it behaves as per normal (although in fact pressing "6" doesn't actually change the station). in short, i am pretty convinced that the buttons aren't all doing what they should, most are, but some aren't, including this TP thing. can't get 'TP' to appear on the display at all... ho hum
  7. crikey, it's complicated innit! i'll try that again when i go out later. this forum is great, by the way, you're all very helpful!
  8. hmmm, i've just been for a drive and the boot was unlocked when i stopped (without turning engine off or taking the key out)... ...so it looks like my central locking might be a bit duff. hmmmmmm.
  9. Hello, a couple more questions that have been niggling me about my "new" (old) Fabia... First off, is there was any way of locking the boot other than flipping the button on the door. I keep forgetting then realise I am sitting at the traffic lights with valuables in the unlocked boot. Second, does anyone know if the rear wash wipe squirty thing is easily replaced? I am assuming this works by pushing the right stalk towards the dash? It makes the motor noise but no fluid comes out. Could it just be blocked? Any suggestions for unblocking? The reservoir is full. thanks in advance again
  10. oh ok, so the radio has no way of switching on automatic traffic alerts then? by this i mean you're listening to your preferred station (preset or otherwise) then whenever the RDS signal for a traffic bulletin is detected the radio automatically cuts to that bulletin for its duration then flips back to your original station? that's the behaviour i was expecting, if that's not the case so be it! thanks both for your replies, it's appreciated.
  11. well if it flipped to a station with traffic on it then i'd be fine with it but it only ever flips to Classic FM. if this is expected behaviour then fine, but in my previous car (also a skoda, but a felicia) i used to press the traffic button and it would then be on standby to switch to a station that currently had a traffic bulletin on.
  12. Hello - a new Fabia owner here, got a 2002 1.9SDI, and the radio is a bit odd. One day it started to do random things but has now settled down, however some of the buttons still don't do what they should. eg. if you press the traffic alert button it just flips to a particular station rather than turning on/off the alerts mode. Is this something that a Skoda dealer can fix and if so any suggestions on what the damage is likely to be? Or is there even a keypress that I can do that will restore factory defaults in a reboot kind of way? TIA for any advice!
