  1. Fast forward to about 1:50 and you'll find it. It's in quite the tricky spot - german designed
  2. Hello! I'll just chip in with some other causes that could lead to misfire. From what you have said about the PCV system working fine this is probably an unlikely cause. However, it is probably worth to check the rear main seal, this issue can cause misfire to occur when cold starting and even stall the engine due to the vacuum leak. This can also cause an oil build up between the engine and the transmission ( check if there's oil between the engine and the trans and not only on the top). However, as i stated it is probably an unlikely cause as your PCV is working fine and no vacuum leaks being detected. Another source of missfire can be that the engine is out of time. I dont know how long you have had this problem but a stretched timing chain due to bad tensioner (know problems with these engines) it could lead to misfire. Do you have an updated tensioner? Probably good to have it checked. It could also be an engine coolant sensor going out due to the misfire being present only during cold starts. The car's computer having the wrong temp and having the fuel mixture too rich or too lean. A failing crank position sensor which can lead to misfire due to wrong signals being sent to the computer. I know this is a lot, and may not be much use but these are just some other causes to misfire. I hope that you can get the problem figure out as soon as possible and good luck!
  3. Hello everyone! I have recently gotten a solid amber EML light. The fault code reads only one code being, P2015. I had gotten the EML when accelerating on to the highway. Read the code and erased it as the car was running fine and thought that it was because of the abnormality cold weather (-20 c) that the car's computer was acting up. However after about 120 km the light came on again when accelerating relatively hard. I did some digging an saw that this piece: Could pop of and cause a vacuum leak which would in turn cause the P2015 fault code. However, on checking my car, it has the updated intake manifold with this design. Im assuming that the pervious owner changed to manfold for the updated one. My question is what can go wrong on a updated manifold to show a P2015 code? Thanks!
  4. Not for certain, as the car was originally serviced with the dealer about 2 months before I bought it. I have the receipt from the workshop and the mechanic that worked on it. It is written down as Lukoil Genesis 5w-30 full synthetic (VW504 00). I know the work was done as the oil looked crystal clear when i bought it. However I am planning on changing the oil early (in January) to a Castrol 5w30 full synthetic as lukoil isn't the best (my opinion). But as you wrote, your recommendation is a 5w40. What are the main advantages of a 5w40 oil over a 5w30?
  5. Been trying these 3 days to see where in the engine the noise is coming from, but it seems that the noise is gone and the car is sounding like normal when cold starting it. So im just going to guess that the noise was from the hydroulic tappets. I appreciate all your help!
  6. Thanks for the help! From the response, im most likely going take it to a mechanic to be sure that the noise is not a potential warning from the tensioner not working properly.
  7. 20231102_121428.mp4 20231102_121428.mp4 I just bought this car about a month ago and don't have a lot of knowledge about these engines. This is a noise that I have just noticed when starting the car after it sitting overnight. I am unsure if its to do with timing chain components, and I would be surprised if it does, as it was changed about 13k km ago by the previous owner of the car. The car has done a total of 138k km. The oil level is normal and has done about a 1000km, it was changed a couple months earlier before i bought the car. Is this a normal noise that occurs when cold starting these engines? The weather has become significantly colder where I live and wonder if it has to do with that or is it a sign of something potentially failing?
