  1. Update , split gearbox and short driveshaft , realigned /pushed together and bolted up then at the back of the gearbox tested again pushing the rod all the way and pressing it against clutch flex plate and it does full lenght now . So in the end engine and gearbox were missaligned , pushrod was going too far in and slave cylinder claw inside the gearbox was pressing in the gap groove . Clutch master cylinder fluid pressure was too high as a result and cracked under pressure . Hope this help anybody else who tries shortcuts like this , my advice , don’t.
  2. Hello , new here so I hope I am posting in the right section , apologies if I am not. On my Octavia mk1 , manual , 1.6 bfq engine , 2003 , I fitted the engine with the gearbox in the car . Engine was out to fit new crank bearings . I refused to take’m out together like you would and that was a bad option . Lesson learned now however , so after a few painful hours managed to bolt them together , engine turns over by hand no drama , but when I went to press the clutch pedal it didn’t go , it was just so stiff so on third push heard a loudish pop and pedal went down and didn’t return . Went to find the clutch master cylinder cracked along its body and fluid leaked through . So I am thinking I must’ve caught the pressure plate rod stuck in a misaligned clutch assy when fitting engine on gbox ? Can’t think of any air in the system as it was not opened at all. Clutch rod was taken out for inspection but fitted right back in and that was about it . Anyone had any similar situation ? If so could you share your story/advice pls? Many thanks ! Cheers!
