The real problem is that i'm searching a gearbox that would fit and would not mess crossloads!

My plan is to remove my 5 speed manual gearbox (actually I have a JHT gearbox) , and replace with a 6 speed manual gearbox (planning on JHY, but open to suggestions). Have you already done something like this on this model or same basic family (eg. Golf 5, Seat Leon, etc)? As you know, does it require coding for cross loads (cruise control is paramount to me)? And does it need extra hardware? (Eg. gear selector, different axles...) Thanks

Guys, is it possible to convert a 2008 Octavia 2 estate with 1.6 BSE engine from 5spd gearbox (JHT) to 6spd gearbox (JHY?))? Someone has already done it? Reason being is I'm always up and down the motorway, a 6th gear would be brilliant to keep rpms lower and have better fuel economy. Is it possible? Can it be coded on ECU via VCDS, or does it require special mapping tools? I'd go to a scrapeyard to buy an used 6spd gearbox to keep costs low.

Hello, I'm a proud owner from Italy of a good old Octavia II 2008 BSE engine. I really like it, quality is great, expecially by comparing with modern cars, and it is very reliable. Plus it has LPG, so it is way cheaper to run. Thanks, MG95Tux
