  1. Thanks for the suggestion but since my car is a workplace leased one, I can't make any modifications and I think that includes altering software via VCDS too.
  2. I fully understand all the desire of the engineers to prevent outside access. BUT, how about letting THE USER decide? After all, in order to drive, you need to be a resonsible adult, don't you think the user can make his/her mind when to lock and when not to? When I'm slowing down surrounded by dangerous people (arabs), I lock on my own initiative. At most other cases - outside population isn't dangerous enough to justify increased chance of getting stuck inside as a result of mild accident with slightly dent door. And you can't 100% rely on automatic system to unlock because the accident might damage its connectors/wires too. Unfortunately, there is a thrend among designers of various products (not only cars): "the user is like a kindergarden kid, he/she doesn't know what's best for him/her, let us decide instead and God forbid letting him/her alter our decision". There are so many configuration bits in this car systems, what harm would do one more controlling the auto doors lock?
  3. Hello! I recently upgraded from Octavia 2020 to Octavia IV 2023 (workplace leased car). On the old model there was a multy-position switch for the front lights (also for fog lights) but on the new model, in common with tradition of companies to save on pennies, they replaced that switch with a simple push button which instructs software to rotate among few values: "Auto", "low beam", something else and "off". At each start the initial selection is "auto" which I can't use: where I live (in Israel) from 1/11 through 31/3 driving on intercity roads must be done with lights ON but since most of the winter days are bright, the "auto" setting will turn OFF the lights and I might get fined if I forget to switch to "low beam" (and on bright day nothing reminds about "no lights"). While on the old model I just left the switch always in the "ON" state (since turning OFF the ignition turned OFF the lights too) on the new model I need to change the lights setting at each start which I know I'll sometimes forget and it might cost me a fine. Is there any way to make my lights selection default? Thanks in advance!
  4. Hello! I recently upgraded from Octavia 2020 to Octavia IV 2023 (workplace leased car). The most annoying of the few automatic features which I would prefare to be disabled is the automatic door lock which occurs at EVERY drive start after every stop or even slow down below 20 km/h. I looked through the settings and didn't find anything relevant to this. I totally don't want to drive with locked doors as in case of accident it increasess the chance of me being stuck in a car (which migh start burning) but it's very annoying to release the doors lock at EACH acceleration. BTW, somewhere in the docs it even mentions that activated doors lock will make it harder for emergency crews to open the doors. Did I missed some setting or it's really not configurable?
  5. Hello! I recently had to upgrade from Octavia 2020 to Octavia IV 2023 (workplace leased car, had it been mine I would hold it for few more years). On the old model I had a memory card with songs formatted as VFAT with *.mp3 files arranged in directories according to performer (one level of directories). After connecting the same memory card through a USB card reader the audio system sees all files as "flat", without any directories, sorted by files names alphabetical order. What can I do to get the same structure I had before? Is VFAT recognized OK by the new model or I should reformat as something else? I attempted to make selection into prefered singers but only got more copies of "unknown artist" (or something like that) added. Somehow the "prefered" selection process doesn't appers to be too intuitive... Thanks in advance!
