  1. my front seats creak quite heavily when i throw the car into a corner (throwing the driver the other way). living with it at the moment, if anyone knows if theres anything i can do I'd appreciate it.
  2. is this problem intermittent? and when it happens does the light stay on for 3-4 engine starts? is the car accurately reflecting the engine temperature? i.e. is it slower/faster to warm up in the morning? does the fan run after you have turned to car off? I had this problem a while back with a 1.6 octy, engine temperature sensor was fritzed and needed replacing. Go to a dealer, diagnosing this fault cost me over €500 in two garages before finally going to the skoda dealers. the sensor cost me €25~ and labour was 60... kicked myself afterwards for not going straight to the skoda dealer. This is a weird skoda problem and the dealers will fix it quickly... if anyone can. incidentally, a friend of mine had a slightly different one where it would come on under heavy acceleration, not OTT acceleration, idle to first acceleration... turns out the new tyres she bought were two different sides and this was reaking havok on the ASR sensors
  3. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Wise advise when I got my VRS...
  4. Ok grand, so its a sand / repaint or should i replace them? Thanks again.
  5. I know the octy's are covered for 10 years'ish for rust etc but does this also apply to the calipers? I noticed a 1c size chip and rust behind it on my caliper last night :(
  6. 100k? You did well there mate. Mine made it to 90 and failed as I drove onto the forecourt for a service! I recon it was a conspiracy! Anywho, I've always been told to replace both.
  7. Do you like it? It's all personal preference, I bought the vrs for it's wolf in sheeps clothing traits, so to me a spoiler larger than stock is not for me. All the power to you though, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
  8. Thank Christ! I was worried there for a second! Ah well I'll stay cool with my dials instead!
  9. Me thinks the original owner of my 05 vrs mk1 was a bit tight and went with the aircon with circular dials instead of said climatronic. I've seen a few of these on ebay, is it a straight swap between the climatron and the three circular dials mount? If not anyone fitted this after purchase? e.g.
  10. rolleyes?!? thats a bit rude :P
  11. im nearly sure the head unit came with this plug... weird.
  12. what have you placed in your lower grills? looks awesome.
  13. what issue? I have a bluetooth sony xplod head unit and its perfect. goes right up to "11" and the "loud" setting is awesome.
  14. i feel robbed of my right to review... :(
  15. I definitely left mine attached throughout the whole process, so i hope I fudged nothing! could somebody put me out of my misery and put the key to position 1 on a cold vrs with the bonnet open and see if they get a squealing from the TB? about 10-30 seconds worth. one hopes he hasn't forked his TB.
  16. thank you kindly! I did have the bonnet open when i started the car and the noise is audible, I dont think its audible with the bonnet closed. Thanks guys, put my mind at ease
  17. Hi There, So I decided to give this a bash and I noticed quite a substantial difference in the "pull" of the car after cleaning the body. The metal housing after the throttle body, which I think is the inlet manifold (but could be completely wrong) is pretty grubby inside, far worse than the throttle body itself. One thing I did notice, the throttle body valve (circlular piece of metal) isn't completely flush, i.e. its at a very slight angle. looking in the valve looks to be closed but it certainly isnt 100% vertical when sitting closed. is this the norm or could cleaning it have broken it slightly? The second thing i noticed after cleaning it is that when i turn the key to position one, i get a high pitch whining noise from the trottle body itself for 10-30 seconds then it stops. is this also normal as I've never noticed this noise before. could somebody test this on their vrs when they get a moment and see if they hear the same thing? And the third thing i noticed, on the pipe side of the throttle body contained alot of white dust when i initially pulled the pipe from the throttle body, where could this dust be coming from? I've often noticed a Hiss coming from the driver side wing when giving the car some welly (post about 3k revs) could there be a leak allowing dust in? Thanks guys,
  18. hi mate, I've been there and feel your pain. Have you at any stage managed to get the diagnostic codes from the car? When I had this issue with my old 1.6 I went to phoenix motors on prussia street (dublin) and while on the phone he had already diagnosed the problem as a faulty sensor. I can't remember which exact sensor fixed my issue ( sounds the same as yours ) and if you don't ring them I could and ask for my service history which may be useful to you.
  19. I was just about to post that, same problem on my old 1.6 500 euro later it cost me 50 squids to fix it in a dealership, moral of the story? Don't bother with 90% of back garages without proven track record!
  20. I havent spotted a guide anywhere for this, any idea where i might find one?

  22. Have a quick search through the forums, this normally points at a faulty controller in the driver side door. This happened to me and after a cleaning of the contacts and a good dry out the problem went away. Cant say for how long it went away, 6 months or so later the car's water pump exploded.
  23. Hi! The yellow light behind the switch to turn on the rear window warmer seems to be gone. I've got a garage 3 month warranty and just wondered if it was an easy replace? I'd do it myself to save having to drive back out to the garage. anyone any idea if its a bulb or part of a kit? Thanks Andy
