  1. Thanks, chimaera- specialised hardware and software I don't have! I take your point about different dashboards for different headlamps. The SKU for the original dash is 5J0920 900B (04.04.08), whereas the previously owned dash is 5J0920 910B (19.12.07) According to the build sheet, the headlamp-related options were: 8K0 Without special headlight control 8Q1 Headlight range control (this is what failed) 8X0 Without headlamp washer system 8JK Ellipsoidal main headlamps for left-hand traffic No mention of projectors. I will have to wait until I can have access to the car again and try applying 12V to T32a on the dash...
  2. I managed to spend some time with the car on Wednesday. I bought a previously owned dashboard on eBay. When I plugged it in and tested the headlamp dip/high beam, the blue HB light works as expected. So, the fault is definitely in the dashboard, not at the lights. However, with the new dashboard connected, the immobiliser doesn't work and the milage is for the donor car (49k), not the actual car (23k). Is there a method of coding the new car to accept the new dashboard, accept the original immobiliser and display the correct mileage? Thank you.
  3. I never noted the style of the OEM lights, but my newphew reports a conventional halogen bulb with two filaments. If the harness is set up for projectors and shutters, this would explain why the blue indicator no longer works! I suppose I will need to find the wire from the Right headlight screen adjustment magnet and connect it to the high beam wire and it might just work.
  4. (The car is miles away from me so I can't check!) I think I know what you mean. When the high beam is selected, a mechnical screen covers the dipped beam- is that what happens? My nephew told me that the high beam does work okay, but perhaps the dipped beam is being covered and therefore the magnet fails and therefore no warning light.
  5. Hi Pete I signed up and have downloaded the wiring diagram. I can see that the K1 - Main beam warning light gets fed through N396 - Right headlight screen adjustment magnet. Any idea what this is? The lights were replaced due to the manual level adjusters not working. Why would the indicator bulb take its feed through an "adjustment magnet"?
  6. Hello Are the headlight wiring diagrams available online? Or is there a Haynes manual for the Mk2 showing the wiring? My 2008 recently failed its MoT because the manual dipped beam height adjusters failed. The garage replace the OEM headlights with pattern parts and passed the car. However, ever since, the blue main beam indicator in the dash doesn't illuminate. The lights switch between main and dipped beam okay on the stalk (it passed the MoT) but no dashboard indicator. It also doesn't show for flash. It seems a bit coincidental that the indicator stopped working after the lights were replaced. I suppose the dashboard bulb could have blown, or are the pattern lights missing a feeback loop for the indicator? Thanks for any suggestions or pointers to the wiring diagrams. Sterling
  7. Hello I ran an Octavia from 1998-2001- a great car which only let me down once (MAF). My ownership rubbed off on my parents who are both on their second Octavia (dad) and Fabia (mum). All cars source from Station Garage in Broadbridge Heath. Here's an old Octavia from Mum's recent collection day. Sterling.
