Hello All,
This is my first Post although I have been following this forum for many years.
A brief history,
I bought my first Skoda, a 2011 Scout, brand new and loved this car for 11 years and 211,000 trouble free miles.
Serviced twice a year It never let me down.
I was very disappointed when Skoda Uk decided not to bring the Scout Mk4 into the Country.
Ordered a new Audi A4 Allroad which I waited 9 month for only to be told by Audi Uk they couldn’t supply it!!
So, after many many months watching AutoTrader I finally found my ‘new’ Scout, a two owner 2016 manual, 36000 miles, full service history etc etc.
Ive had the car four weeks and just had a towbar fitted by my local garage who maintained my old Scout.
Whilst they were fitting the towbar they noticed oil spray from both of the rear drive shaft bearings. Both bearings move in and out when pulled.
I contacted the garage who sold me the car and they very quickly pointed out their 3 month/ 3000 mile warranty doesn’t cover,in their words,
Minor fluid leaks,Odours, external oil leaks, worn or perished seals.
We sent a video of the movement of the shafts and oil spray which they say their work shop are reviewing.
The car comes with a 3 month warranty as mentioned and within their What is Covered section is No12,
Drive gears, shafts, bearings and bushes, thrust washers end spacers, drive shafts including constant velocity joints, hubs, universal joints and couplings.Excluding gaiters.
The warranty company is Warranty Wise.
My question is does this forum think I should be covered by the warranty?
I have suggested to the garage I bought the car from that I would happily get a Skoda main dealer report on the car.
And finally, now the garage is aware of the fault does it matter if I run it past it’s 3000/ 3 month warranty?
Thankyou in advance
