I just sat in the car and tried the double press. It does work to disable the sensors, so if that's the problem then this is an easy way to avoid the problem, just pressing twice to lock. I have locked it and will see what happens for the rest of the day. If it is the sensors at fault, I will also try the infotainment option to see if that means I no longer have to push twice. Thanks for all the help guys, really appreciate it.

Thanks Langers. That last part where it says "disable both functions once" - That could be a temporary solution until I can permanently disable motion sensors. I am a bit confused though, is that two options to do the same thing, or are both steps required? If I can just press lock twice in 2 seconds, that would be good, but going through the menu every time will be a bit of a pain. Also, I doubt it but I suppose it's possible the alarm internal battery is low. I will have to see how easy it is to replace that as if it is easy that's not a bad thing to do anyway as not sure when it was last done. thanks

What a polite and warm welcome to the forum. My wife read the handbook and all books that came with the vehicle last night. She said she couldn't find anything relevant to this, hence why I posted this thread. If you're sure there is a solution in there, I will assume she's as dumb as she looks and read it myself tonight.

Our 2019 Octavia is great in every way except for this problem! If we lock with key fob, it can sometimes last all night locked, but often the alarm goes off within an hour or two. We now have to leave it unlocked everywhere which is obviously concerning. Does anyone know if this is a common problem or how to diagnose/fix it myself? If not, is there any way to deactivate the alarm so the doors just lock on the fob (or with key)? I'd be happy to go without the alarm if we could at least lock the doors! Thanks
