MK2 RS Fog Lights
My 06 Octavia failed the Swedish MOT because my left side fog light points too far up. It has the round fog lights and from what I’ve seen on Youtube, getting to the bulb is a bit of a pain since you have to take the wheel, skid plate, and fender liner off. Is there any other way to get to it? It seems that you can pop the plastic ring around the light off, but I’m not 100% sure. Figured it’s better to ask here first before trying to take it off and breaking everything 😅

Sluggish cold start
Yup, that’s what I got told as well. Probably best not to touch it as long as the car runs fine, it’s gonna end up opening a whole new can of worms 😅

Sluggish cold start
Spark plugs were brand new NGK ones and looked good. Air filter was changed last year, but it’s not impossible that it got dirty. Gonna take a look at it tomorrow. Fuel filter is the only one I’m uncertain about. Talked to my mechanic when I had the car serviced and he said there’s no need to change it.

Sluggish cold start
The previous owner had one installed, but I unfortunately don’t have an outlet by my place, so I haven’t been able to test it.

Sluggish cold start
@Rooted I’m in Sweden, we have 95 and 98 here. Car’s way more fun on 98, but it’s also more expensive haha

Oh yeah, one more thing, I’ve been running 95 octane during the winter. Could that also be a potential cause? Might try 98 next time I fill up

Sluggish cold start
Hi all, My 06 Octavia RS starts very sluggishly when it’s around 0-4 degrees outside. It starts on the first try, but it’s slow and I have to hold down the key for a few seconds as the engine spurs into life. It only has this problem at these temperatures, it started just fine when it was -10 outside a few weeks ago. I’ve tried putting the key in the on position for a few seconds before starting, but that didn’t help. It also has plenty of fuel and runs just fine otherwise. The time it sits cold doesn’t matter, it still has this problem even if it’s only been outside for a few hours. It idles at around 1100 rpm on start up, but goes down to 800 after a minute max. I replaced the spark plugs last week and the injectors are newly refurbished. Also changed the thermostat a while back. The battery is a few years old, but appears to be in good shape. Perhaps the starter is starting to give up? Not sure if this is related, but I tend to smell raw fuel every time I start it cold. It disappears as soon as I drive off, however. Used to be worse before I got the injectors fixed, now it smells like raw fuel for around a minute before it turns into burnt fuel, so that could just be the car running extra rich to compensate for the start up troubles? I’m pretty clueless as to what the issue is, so any input is appreciated 🙂

Door Locks
Hi all, The lock cylinder on the driver’s side of my MK2 appears to be stuck. I’ve tried spraying an ungodly amount of WD40 in it, but it refuses to budge. Since I’m cheap, I’d rather not spend the money on a new cylinder, so I’m wondering if there’s any other way to unlock the car in case the battery goes flat. I’ve looked around the car, but there aren’t any other visible locks on the boot or doors. Perhaps there’s another lock hidden behind a piece of trim somewhere? Otherwise, does anyone have any tips on getting the driver’s side lock unstuck?

2.0 TFSI Injector Parts Number
Awesome, thanks for checking! Nice to finally have a solid answer after an entire day of looking at VW parts numbers 🤣

2.0 TFSI Injector Parts Number
Yeah, it's doing my head in cause 06F906036G doesn't appear in the VW and Audi catalogues either. It only pops up on used parts websites. However, the two look exactly the same and Dark Side Development lists their injector for the EA113 engine as a replacement for both 06F906036G and 06F906036A. https://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/fuel-injector-petrol-injector-for-ea113-tfsi-petrol-engines.html I also found this forum and it seems that they are interchangeable? Since 06F906036G doesn't appear anywhere, perhaps it came with the earliest models and was then dropped in favour of 06F906036A? https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=74753.0 Should be fine considering that both of them appear to be for the BWA engine? I suppose the only real way to find out is pull the intake and see what's actually on my car 😅

2.0 TFSI Injector Parts Number
Hi all, I need to change the injectors on my 06 Octavia RS with the 2.0 TFSI engine. As new ones are expensive, I've been looking into getting some used ones, and sending them to be serviced. The parts number for the 06 model is 06F906036A, but I found a cheap set with the number 06F906036G at a junkyard in Prague. From what I understand, the G code comes from the 07 model. According to my mechanic, the code has to end in an A, but according to the sellers, the two are interchangeable, so I don't know who to believe 🙃 Has anyone here gone through the hassle of replacing the injectors? If so, what parts number did you use?
