Hey all, New to this forum, ish.. joined in December but only just getting round to posting. I have a 2018 Octavia Vrs estate in Meteor grey. I absolutely love it, owned it for over a year now and its great. I am sold on Skoda as a brand and think when the time comes I will upgrade to the mk4.
  3. Hi All, So i have a mk3 octavia vrs and i have an issue where my ambient temp sensor on the dash is reading around 10.c higher than it should be. Some background info below which may or may not have an impact on the fault. I noticed the problem after having my heater matrix changed at a garage which may have just been a coincidence that it failed or if their work may have knocked a wire or sensor somewhere. So i know the sensor itself sits in the front grill, I bought a new sensor (non genuine) and this didnt fix it so i do intend on buying a genuine one at some point but when the sensor is unplugged it reads lower than it does when its plugged in but is still picking up a temp from somewhere, but how can this be if the sensor is unplugged? Where is it picking up a reading from? Does anyone know if this is a common fault or if potentially the wiring or ECU where the sensor goes back to is anywhere near the heater matrix area because im worried that something was knocked when the matrix was changed. I did take it back to the mechanic and he checked over the work and couldnt see any issues with what he did. I have also code read the car and the ambient temp sensor isnt showing as a fault. Also the temp does fluctuate but always reads around 10.c higher and i have cleaned the sensor and inspected the wiring to the plug and all seems ok. Do i just buy a genuine sensor and hope this fixes it or is it unlikely it will with the symptoms its displaying?
