  1. my daughters 2018 scout does the same and also has random alarm going off when locked. My wifes 2019 scout started randomly locking itself with keys inside a couple of months back (less than 10k miles on clock). The main dealer who services my daughters car say that there are no fault codes, my independent has just told me my wifes is showing fault codes B122D29 CENTRAL LOCKING SIGNAL IMPROBABLE; Points to PS control unit4.0
  2. 2018 model, alarm will go off within a 10 - 20 seconds after locking the car, for no apparent reason. Any pointers?
  3. Thanks, I will take a look. That make is offered by GSF but described as heavy duty, so am guessing that's what they are is the sports option.
  4. Can anyone let me know correct part number or where to obtain front coil spring for my Octavia 2.0ltr diesel 2010 , I was told it had sports suspension (main dealer) but all the usual places offer springs for cars without sports suspension .
  5. Our aircon needed regas after one year. According to "dealer" you should run the aircon for a short while every month otherwise the seals dry out and leak. Strange, my 14 year old Beemer has never been regassed and still works.
  6. I first bought from Benfield in 1974 (Opel Manta) and since then have bought 4 VWs and an Audi from them. In Feb 2011 I bought a Skoda Octavia Elegance estate 2.0 deisel, with uprated suspension and 17" wheels. It was pre - registered (23 /12/2010) and had recorded 9 miles. Previous experience with this company had been very good, competitive prices, good part ex etc. When I bought the Octavia I also bought into their service plan which was pay fixed amount monthly for x no of months, approx £350 in total which covered the first three years servicing. Not a bad deal on the face of it. Near the end of the fourth year (I still have the car now - pristine virtually) my wife complained that the cabin airflow was poor so I removed the cabin air filter to find not only was it choked badly, it had the manufacturing date on it which was OCT 2010, I may be a cynic, but that is one big coincidence bearing in mind the car was first registered 2 months later. So, out of curiosity I removed the engine air filter - same rubbish accumulated, same manufacturing date. As a service was due I decided to do it myself and drained the oil, removed the oil filter to find that also badly contaminated but unfortunately could not decipher any of the inscriptions. The oil filter housing cap appeared untouched by any tool so I have assume that that was not changed either. I do know that the oil was changed as I always checked the level the day after service and altho already black, I could tell it had been refilled with new. After carrying out the service, I could tell a week later that the oil was new so you can draw your own conclusions. When I complained to the general manager, he was adamant it was not their policay to fiddle services, but three different mechanics signed the book and none of them changed anything so again, draw your own conclusions. I was offered a free MOT in compensation - big deal and so much for main dealer servicing. They will not be getting any business from me again.
  7. Bought my 60 pre reg 2ltr diesel estate in feb 2011 with 9 miles on clock. Also bought the extended service plan for a little over £300 to cover next three services. Because we do low mileage we opted for time based service option. As the vehicle is almost at required time for service I checked the service record filled in by the main dealer in Newcastle. I was shocked to find that so far neither the air filter or the pollen filter are listed as having been changed. I have in the last ten minutes checked the pollen filter and it was absolutely choked with debris so will be checking the air filter in the morning. I have lost faith in these people as I cannot trust them to carry out the correct checks and procedures. I have just ordered Mobil ESP 5-30 and all filters (MAHLE) from OPIE at a delivered price of £60. It would appear that the recent VW ethos is percolating down to the dealers also
  8. Are you in the Army by any chance? If so buy your tyres in Germany and get the VAT back
  9. karchers getting a bad name recently. If you do want one try their website as they sell refurbs at knockdown prices. Nilfisk have good rep. I am currently using a Ryobi which cost me £38 +vat and am happy with it. Previous one was cheapy from Netto which I had for 5 / 6 years stood outside all year round, no probs. now used by my son and still goin..
  10. Thanks lads, appreciate your rapid responses, appears to be a minor complaint but there is risk of cutting fingers on it, never wear my wedding ring so no issues there.
  11. My Octavia is now 2 years old with only 9k on the clock. Recently noticed that the chrome trim line on top of gear knob is starting to peel and has a sharp edge. Is it worth trying to claim under warranty?
  12. This was described to me by the VW salesman (on the quiet) when I bought a Jetta with DSG. He reckoned if you did it more than three times you could seriously feck your clutches
  13. Try V DUBS in Willington Quay, 5 mins from Heworth metro station
  14. Discovered this recently on my wifes car (6k) and the problem is exactly as described. She has changed jobs in last three weeks and instead of a 12 mile journey to work, it is now 2 miles. At first I was pleased at the big saving in fuel cost, but now I have to give it a good blast every weekend to "dry" it out as well as keeping the DPF clean
  15. I have been using Millers additive (Cetane booster)in both my cars (2.0ltr x 140 bhp Octy and 2.5 d BMW) a bit pricey to buy but works out cheaper than buying V power. 100ml per tank full. Bought it in 5ltr container
