  1. That's what I considered but my missus isn't that slow to get out of the car so I wondered if anyone else had heard of the seat controls sticking and moving the seat to it's limits.
  2. That could be a result, thank you for that, I'll report back 🙂
  3. Bit weird, prompted the missus to suggest I was having an affair ! Whenever she uses the passenger seat, she gets out, I lock the car, and occasionally when I come back to the car the passenger seat has reclined itself as far as it can ????? Sticky switches ? She doesn't adjust the seat normally as no-one else sits in it (I promise) !
  4. Anyone ? Bueller ? I'll try to reinstall 5238 and then the maps again and failing that I'll brick it and buy an apple car play. I cant even check the CD integrity as none of my PCs have a CD drive anymore.....
  5. Afternoon. So had my Superb II TDi 4x4 CR estate since Jan, and I've been pottering around replacing this and sorting that. Having some issues with my maps though on the Columbus (trying to upgrade to 2020 V17). Updated to 5238 software no problem, but a map disk from markshome1382 on ebay came up with CD/DVD error. Pls check CD/DVD. I asked his advice, started a return, got my money back, but he also sent me another disc in the post which came up with the same error. Anyone encountered this/know any work arounds/know where a solution might be sought ? Entering post codes into my phone to look at a map to then find the location on my Columbus is a bit of a faff. System details : 3T0035680G, H42, 5238, Navteq, 7074. Thanks in advance.
  6. Thank you sir, I have a big table of tyre sizes and circumference and %age difference, and it wouldn't be the first time my speedo was inaccurate 🙂 All good info. I think I'll find the right 16s with the correct offset (there's a good choice out there and most seem to have larger Cbs so I can utilise some spigot rings) and then I'll pick the tyres. As I'm going down that offroad route I might consider 'outdoor' or similar springs and raise the car slightly too. I'll let you all know how I get on. I'm sure someone will be happy to take the 18s off my hands too as they do look good.
  7. Good day. So my recently-acquired 2011 Superb Estate 4x4 CR TDi Elegance has whopping great 18s on it, however as they are 40 profile I don't expect they will last long on Lincolnshire roads, no matter how good they look. I will sell them off once I have a replacement. I need high profile and therefore to retain rolling radius a smaller alloy wheel. Can anyone confirm the following for me please : 15" wheels will not fit on this car as they will snag the brakes ? I'm only going by sight and would be grateful if someone could confirm so I can go 2nd hand alloy wheel shopping before buying some all terrain tyres 🙂
  8. I'm presuming any firmware and map updates need to be via DVD and not the SD Card ? Only have a burner in my old XP machine which I just retired......... TIA.
  9. I pick the 2011 4x4 up on Friday. Last few years have seen 51k put on the clock, so Ive got the garage to do the cambelt, water pump and tensioners, haldex oil and pump filter and an engine oil change before I pick her up. There will undoubtedly be a few things that need fixing, optical parking system was unavailable as an example. Gearbox is a bit notchy so I might change the box oil and filter, but surprised to hear the clutch is covered under the 12 month warranty.
  10. Hello ! Having owned a lot of different types of cars over the years it's time to get something with a large back end that I can get animal feeds in, DIY gear to service my rental at the other end of the country and my eMTB (plus the ever-growing barrage of grand children). Initially I was after an Octavia Scout but there seem to be none near me, or in my price range (dont want to spend more than £5k). I want 4WD and a bit of ruggedness as we live in the country and as I get older we will want to move to somewhere even more remote (pretty much done with the great unwashed and the government currently TBH). With my lack or progress my mind strayed back to JDM days and I found myself looking at Subaruy Legacies (3.0R and 2.0 GT tt) with the idea of LPG'ing them. Very capabale motors, but getting old now. Brain needed to triumph over heart! Attached though, is my rather detailed assessment of 2 possibilities, one which I saw today, one which I am seeing tomorrow morning. I think heart and brain can happily be in the same place here (as long as I can get over the fact that both cars have north of 140k miles on them). I'll report back how I get on, but I expect within the next few days to be the proud owner of a Superb 2.0TDI CR 170 4x4 Estate Elegance 🙂 Happy to be steered if in my assessment I have made any glaring errors. Look forward to getting to know you all. For background sake, I also have a Twingo RS133 with a 200bhp Clio engine (was fun at the Ring and in the Alps this year), a Smart Roadster I'm looking to add a bike engine to, and a 1986 Porsche 924S which has been a stationary work in progress for a least two years. Ooh, and if I sell a house I have up North I'll try to add an X150 4.2V8 supercharged XKR to that lost later this year. Superb Possibilities Redacted.pdf
