Hi,
I have the chance of a cheap 99 Felicia, but the guy reckons the ecu is dead. He has apparently had this diagnosed by some expert.
Anyway, I have seen the car and its worth having as its in generally good condition, but obviously not running. I believe that if I change the ECU, as it has a built in immobiliser, I also have to change the transponder chip in the key and the receiver around the ignition barrell, and the box of tricks the receiver plugs into all for a matching set from the same donor car? Is this true?
If I cant find a complete donor for these parts, is it possible to get the transponder stuff re-coded to the replacement ECU?
How much are these parts likely to go for 2nd hand?
How much would a re-programming cost? would this have to be done at a Skoda dealership or will any auto electrician be able to do this?
Anything else I should know about for this sort of thing?
I dont even know what size engine it has, it looks like a small unit, possibly a 1.3ish I can get more details over the weekendif needed.
Thanks,
Dave.
