Hello, I purchased my Skoda Octavia from a garage about 18 months ago. When doing so I purchased a 2 year warranty but was never given any information regarding this. This week i had to take my car to the garage due a problem and turns out it needs £1000 worth of work. So I am trying to make a claim on the warranty and they are arguing that my warranty is now voided because I didn't keep to the servicing requirements of 10,000 miles or 12 months, which ever is sooner.
As i didn't get any information booklet from them i looked online and it says the customer obligation is that the vehicle must be maintained in line with the Manufacturer's recommended service schedule. A maximum allowance of 500 miles or 28 days either side of the stipulated mileage or time is permitted.
I purchased the car on the 17/7/22. I contacted Bristo's Skoda near me on the 4/8/23 when I was notified and booked the car in for 29/8/23 (earliest they could take it). They are saying I am void because it didn't stick to the 10,000 miles or 12 months recommended schedule. And if taking in to account the 28 days this takes it to the 15/8/23 or so (so my car went in 2 weeks after).
After looking online, in some cases it is recommended a service every 10,000miles, sometimes it says 20,000 miles.
For context, the car was MOT'd on the 8/7/22 @ 25,318 miles. I then got an MOT on the 10/7/23 @ 35,103 = 9785. So the 10,000 mile notification would have popped up about the end of July. Tieing in with me booking on the 4th August.
Can someone please confirm the recommended service schedule for a Skoda Octavia Estaste, 2015 with the above mileage?
